When It Rains by LM Bluejay

Time seemed to tick by ever so slowly. Neither dared to make a move. Awkward silence filled the kitchen as both became prisoners of their thoughts.
The clock on the stove showed it was midnight.
The house phone rang.
Inuyasha jumped. “I-I better go and get that!” He fled the room without a second glance.
Sho’s head was still buried in his arms. ‘Leave me alone,’ he growled under his breath.
Sorry, but you know that I can’t just do that. The familiar voice sighed. It’s impossible. I am a big part of you after all.
‘You’re actually a figment of my imagination.’
Then shouldn’t you be able to get rid of me whenever you want? Oh, that’s right! It’s because you can’t. Listen, Sho. You’re in way over your head. Let me take over so I can…
‘No. I’m not letting you take over anything. I may have done a lot of stuff in my life but that sounds like some demonic type of shit. Higurashis don’t do that.’
If only you knew. Look, you don’t even know what the guy is. I’ll give you hint though. He’s not human. That’s why he was able to do what he did.
‘The device was hella cheap to begin with. Plus I have insurance.’
You’re missing the point. What happens if he decides to come after you next? What will you do?
‘Run like a bitch. I’m not dumb enough to lose my life because of some fight.’
You sound pathetic.
‘And you’re annoying.’
Inuyasha returned.
The voice became serious. I won’t offer this again. Switch now with me or else.
‘I’ll take my chances.’ Sho lifted his head. His uncle stood shyly across the room.
When their eyes met he looked away. Inuyasha fumbled with how to start so he settled on something simple. “I’m sorry.”
Utter surprise greeted Sho’s face. He released the breath he forgot he was holding. “Well that was unexpected…thanks. And here I thought you were a complete ass. Guess I can always just get a new one. A new model just came out so that’s a plus. Though it sucks I have to redo my files, especially minion rush and knight storm.”
Inuyasha tilted his head and growled. “The hell are you babbling about?”
“Isn’t it obvious? Why my beloved phone of course. It was a birthday gift from my nanna. You completely destroyed it with your bare hands.”
“Doesn’t ring any fucking bells.” He dug in his ear. “Anyway, sorry.”
“I can think of a thousand reasons why you should be. Perhaps you'd like to elaborate.”
Inuyasha withdrew a gun.
Sho instantly backed away a few steps. ‘What the hell is?’ Fear claimed his raging heart. ‘Why the hell’s there a gun in my face!?’ He starred at the barrel of the golden piece. ‘Is this really how I die? Because of some psychopath?’ His life’s reel moved through his mind. ‘I’m going to die…’
“Kid! Look out!” A second Inuyasha burst into the room. He leapt in front of Sho as the shot was fired.
Both were instantly turned to dust that glowed bright yellow and completely vanished.
The gunman’s body shifted in appearance. Emerald eyes glistened. “He got in the way.” The teen reached in his pocket and pulled out his phone. "Boss it's done."
Gurinman responded. "Good."
