“This is crazy!” Pink fuzzy slippers marched back and forth across the hard wood floor.  “Don’t you even realize how long ago it’s been since I last visited that place?”

“I believe it’s been approximately…”

“And how do we even know he’s the real father?”

“A DNA test would obviously…”

“And what about his intentions? Why now?

“Ms. Higurashi I need you to please calm down. Your constant pacing is making my head spin. And will you please allow me to finish a sentence in peace?”

She halted mid-step and took a seat before him. Her face seemed to age before his very eyes. “Mr. Gurinman, you have to understand something. My boy is my whole world and I’ve done everything in my power to raise him as best as I can. And now you expect me to believe that there’s some rich man out there looking for whereabouts of his…genes some decades after the fact? There’s just no way.”

“And you need to understand that my client is currently in a delicate position. A long standing empire is on the verge being taken over, and if your son truly is my client’s heir then the two of them will need to get into contact as soon as possible.”

“Yeah, well there’s no way I’m letting Sho meet this guy before I see him myself in person.”

“Are you really that protective of the boy?”

“I think people are more what they hide than what they appear.”

He slowly removed his glasses and wiped them. “I couldn’t agree more. There are some real demons in this world.” His grey orbs flashed a bright yellow.

She noticed the change right away but the intensity of the flickering lights above drew her attention. “Sorry,” she quickly apologized. “The lighting here can be pretty faulty at times. For a second there I thought I actually saw yours eyes change colors,” she lightly laughed.

His hand pushed the black frame back over grey orbs. “Indeed.”
