Emphasis by Sydney

Chapter 1

“Thank you, Kagome-sama, for allowing Rin to decorate your hair!” the excited child told the young miko.

Kagome smiled in response, but kept her head straight as Rin threaded flowers into her now upswept locks.

“You’re very welcome, Rin-chan! I know you’ll make me beautiful.”

“Oh, Kagome-sama is byootifal without flowers!” Rin stated happily. “The flowers are just for em…am…”

“Emphasis,” said a monotone voice.

Kagome willed herself not to jump, as Rin hadn’t, seeming to have known the taiyoukai was there to begin with.

“Hai!” the girl agreed readily.

Coming to stand in front of them, Sesshomaru looked on with passivity.

As if he has any other expressions, really, Kagome thought.

Deciding he was superiorly not amused with the goings-on in front of him, Sesshomaru turned to head into the trees.

Kagome’s eyes boggled as his back turned.

Leaning her mouth next to Kagome’s ear, Rin said in a hushed tone, “Kagome-sama’s hair is dark, and so Rin needs light flowers for her hair.” Pausing to loop another chain of wildflowers, Rin giggled, “My Lord needs darker ones.”

Kagome knew he had heard his ward. But as he continued to walk, turning his head to meet Kagome’s eyes, he smirked.

He left the strands of flowers where they had been artfully arranged in his silver tresses.
