Kagome jumped up in shock, and came face-to-face with a white dog mask.

“Sorry…didn’t mean to frighten you.”

“I-it’s…ok,” she squeaked taking a few steps back.  They stood in awkward silence. The fiery patterned clothing over his broad shoulders caught her attention. “You…look really nice,” she commented. “Why aren’t you inside with everyone else enjoying the party?”

“I could ask you the same,” he returned. “What’s an elegant flower such as yourself doing basking in the moonlight all alone?”

“I have my reasons,” Kagome huffed.

“And my offer still stands.”
