Shippo further explained. “That spice you’re carrying is Tatsu’s personal blend.”

Momentarily puzzled, Seiichi whipped the small satchel out. “The monk gave this to me, but didn’t explain. What purpose does this serve?”

“To the average person, cooking. But for ours it’s a sign.”

He was caught off guard by the igneous glares he received. Double-talking between the two men, Shippo thought he saw a resemblance that wasn’t there before.

Briskly shaking the hallucination off, he continued. “Basically, Tatsu thinks you have what it takes, and I’m willing to go along for the ride.”

Roctis snorted.
