Sesshoumaru paced his chamber, trying unsuccessfully to surpress his rising agitation at the growing discontent of his shiro's inhabitants. It hung over the area like a choking fog, and the Western Lord was inclined to believe that Naraku's foul miasma had returned. Rin had not said a single word to him and refused to make eye-contact during meals, and as for the kitsune; well, Sesshoumaru hadn't seen him since their duel three suns ago.

A glimmer caught his gaze, and he turned to see the sunlight reflected off of a fan's bejewelled stand; the very same fan that had caught Kagome's attention. The daiyoukai smirked faintly as he remembered the look of sheer terror that had crossed the woman's face when he'd opened it and revealed its destructive power. Although she lacked obedience, the miko was quite entertaining, and his home seemed rather barren without her clumsy antics and... lively personality.

'Perhaps I should send a guard after her; to ensure that no harm befalls her, since it would be a pity if she should die before this Sesshoumaru has learnt her secret.'

His musings were interrupted by an unanticipated presence; before he could utter a sound, the Lady Tashio breezed in, eyes roaming over the bedroom's treasures. Her golden gaze flitted over her son before settling on her own, perfect claws.

"It might be pleasant if you let a servant throw away some of this clutter; there is barely space to breathe in here."

Sesshoumaru watched his mother as he crossed over to the window, annoyed at her invasion of his private sanctum. "Save your idle chatter for the court- what is it you want?"

Rouged lips pulled upward in a smirk.

"Agitated, are we?"

The demoness continued on before he could snarl a response. "The miko, Kagome. Do you think it wise to leave her undefended and misplaced?"

Sesshoumaru clenced his jaw, infuriated. "She is more than capable of defending herself."

"So this is for amusement?" She shot back. "Be careful that you don't let the situation go too far," At his lack of response, she addded, "Some youkai might eat her... although there are worse fates than that." Lady Tashio noted the deep gouges her son's claws were making in the window frame and decided on one last parting remark.

"Have you talked to Rin today? Oh, I had forgotten; you've lost touch with both of your little ningen."

Sesshoumaru roared as his mother quickly left, her face almost split in two by her uncharacteristic grin. Trinkets fell to the floor as he slammed the door shut and erected a strong barrier- the heavy wood and powerful yoki effectively locking the inuyoukai away from the outside world.
