Prompt: Flight (Week 32)

Why had he run from her like that? More importantly; why did she thwart him at every turn? All that was required of the miko was honesty- if she could not abide by that, then she wasn't worthy of any alliance- or so Sesshoumaru tried to convince himself.Yet he couldn't shake the nagging feeling that he should stop his hurried flight and return to Kagome.

The inuyoukai stiffened as a drop of rain fell on his sensitive nose.

There was no reason to question himself; all his decisions were made with his completely infallible logic. It would do the mouthy onna good to fend for herself- she had always been coddled by his idiot sibling, and he had been a most gracious host towards her, had he not? The priestess had to take responsibility for herself- and the consequences of her actions- every once in a while lest she become nothing more than a burden.

Sesshoumaru sped-up slightly, a scowl adorning his face, as the occasional pitter-patters of rain evolved into a downpour. 'If the miko has any sense, she will find shelter.' He thought absently.

His own abode rapidly came into view, his demonic speed allowing him to cover all the ground the two of them had traversed these past few days in mere minutes. Leaping over the entrance, the Western Lord quickly entered the shiro, eager to escape the irritating rain.

What met him was unexpected company; his mother, Rin and the kitsune were waiting in welcome in the main hall, bright smiles adorning the children's faces. Avoiding his mother's gaze, Sesshoumaru focused on Rin instead, taking in her glowing face.

"Welcome back Sesshoumaru-sama! I hope the journey wasn't too tiring, but I thought you would be gone for another two days and where is Kagome-sama?"

The daiyoukai sighed internally, annoyed that his ward had brought up the very topic he was keen to ignore.

"Yes Sesshoumaru, I too was wondering where your curious companion had gone. Nothing had happened to her I presume?"

Sesshoumaru barely suppressed a growl at Lady Tashio's light jibe. "No. mother, nothing has happened, I am more than capable of protecting her," his jaw tightened as gold met gold, "we had a disagreement; thus, until she admits to her wrong-doing the miko will not be returning to the shiro."

For a few moments all was silent as mother and son appraised each other. Their staring match was interrupted by a small, shocked voice.

"You left her?"
