Guess

Prompt: Outburst - A bursting forth, as an outburst of laughter.

Word Count: 405

“Okay, what about her?”

“Overweight and over-indulgent, spoils her children – effectively turning them into little monsters -, and she wishes that she knew how to prevent her husband’s eyes from straying to other women and occasionally, even other men.”

Kagome absorbed this information, scanning the street below as she did so. She and Sesshoumaru were sitting in the open window, passing a lazy afternoon making theories about the people who passed them down on the street below. All of her lover’s theories tended to seem entirely plausible, if you based them on the appearance of the person (and sometimes, they didn’t look that way but he said his nose was also a big indicator of these kinds of things – Kagome took his word for it). As for her guesses… Well, he always disregarded them immediately.

“Kagome, the man. Pass your judgment.”

Blue eyes surveyed the ordinary looking businessman, walking quite briskly, his black suitcase almost as shiny as his polished shoes and bald spot. The suit had no remarkable features, and altogether, he looked like a very boring person.

“He’s a spy for the Polish embassy – in that suitcase is a camera recording everyone he passes, and he has a wire in his ear so he can hear what we are saying right this very minute!”

Silence reigned for several minutes, and in this time the man continued on his way, giving no indication of hearing their whispers about his design.

Eventually, the suspense became too much to bear and Kagome peeked at her companion from the corner of one eye. His slightly exasperated look coupled with his head resting on his fist made the young woman burst into a fit of giggles. Sesshoumaru looked alarmed for a moment, before an annoyed stare settled on his features.

A thought occurred to the joyous woman, and her laughter stopped suddenly, the question on the edge of her lips. The daiyoukai caught wind of her mood and looked at her expectantly.

“And what do you see when you look at me?”

Golden eyes twinkled in the sunlight as a small smile graced Sesshoumaru’s lips.

“Yours is the hardest of all. In fact, this one is unsure of what he sees.”

Confused by his odd response, Kagome opened her mouth only to still when a clawed finger pressed against her chin.

“I do not know what you are, but I know that you are the woman I love.”
