Kagome’s frown deepened as she placed yet another item in her shopping basket. Ever since she had arrived at the supermarket, she hadn’t been able to escape the nagging sensation at the back of her mind, the distracting feeling that she was forgetting something important.

With a light huff, the young woman decided that she wouldn’t be recalling anything very soon and made her way to the till, eager to leave the noisy place.

Her cashier had been overweight, antisocial, and worst of all, stressed. When one of her purchases had refused to be scanned and she’d had to call another worker over to help, Kagome had felt her will to live slowly slipping away, but she had eventually made it out, everything accounted for.

Just as she arrived at the bus stop, she remembered what she had somehow managed to erase from her memory until after she was done shopping.

“You must promise this one that you won’t forget, Kagome. Contrary to what you may believe, your memory is atrocious, and I shall not suffer from a lack of those delicious treats due to your brain.”

“Don’t worry Sessh! I won’t forget, okay?”

The miko winced. After spending a good five minutes assuring her mate that she wouldn’t forget, what did she go and do?

Turning away from the bus that had just arrived, Kagome prepared to take the long walk of shame back to the store. She just hoped that the observant inuyoukai wouldn’t notice how long her trip was taking.
