Tessaiga was heavy in Sesshoumaru’s hands, rattling almost desperately as its cries reverberated in his ears like a heartbeat. A deep, cultured voice filled his mind, rough and yet smooth in tone, while being vaguely familiar.

Help her…

Save her.

Protect her!

He moved as soon as a tremor rippled down her body, rendering her down to one knee. Gasping for air, she asked him what he was doing. He offered no answer because he didn’t know. Instincts screamed at him to act, defend that which was becoming increasingly important to him; she wasn’t just another woman.

She was Kagome.
