Figuratively Speaking

Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me, and a nod of recognition goes to the creator of this challenge.

A/N: None. :) Update 3 of 5.

Chapter 133: Figuratively Speaking

It must have been him.”

Sesshoumaru gave the female a sidelong glance. “Hn?”

Koujin-sama. He must have taken the Shikon from the fire that burned Kikyou’s body.”

Your ancestor…”

Yes. Kagutsuchi-sama is another possibility, but somehow, it doesn’t seem likely.” Kagome’s fingers curled around Totosai’s gifts. “He gave me his blessing, I know it.”

He could have been insane.”

True.” She laughed. “Anyway, are you actually familiar with the legend of the Shikon no Tama? We’ve been talking so much about it, I’m surprised you’re taking this so well…and not think I’m a freak.”

A/N: Koujin is the Japanese god of fire, the hearth, and the kitchen. He represents violent forces (i.e. controlled fire) that are turned toward the good of humankind or for good purposes. He is said to destroy all impurities. He is also responsible for watching over the household and reporting any misdeeds to the god(s) of the village/city.

Kagutsuchi is the original fire deity in Japanese mythology. The events of his birth and subsequent death are both quite violent. I won’t describe them here, however, or else the story’s rating will be bumped higher…regardless if the details are purely informational, or actually not as bad as you might think. You’re welcome to read more about him though.
