The next morning Sesshomaru found Kagome in the gardens. Kagome smiled at him when he sat next to her and pulled her close.

Sesshomaru took in her scent as he spoke, “What are you doing out here so early in the morning?”

Kagome sighed, “I was thinking about Aki.”

Sesshomaru scowled, “What is it that bothers you?”

Kagome looked up at him, “I just feel bad for him I wish there was a way we could help him move on. It must be painful to be stuck living with just the memory of the one you loved.”

Sesshomaru sighed now understanding what she meant, “There is nothing we can do Kagome he must come to terms with her death and move on. It could take decades before he is completely healed.”

Kagome’s eyes widened, “What do you mean?”

Sesshomaru looked down at her, “From what he said she was his intended and they had already been intimate but had not completed the mating so she had a partial mark. That is why his pain is so great and why he has not moved on yet.”

Kagome nodded in understanding, “I still wish we could help him in some way.”

Sesshomaru rubbed circles on her back, “I know you do Kagome but this is something only time can heal.”

Kagome curled closer to him knowing he spoke nothing but the truth.
