With a bid farewell and a bow, Kagome left the establishment and scurried towards the outskirts of town. The sunlight peeked behind the trunks of trees, blanketing the landscape in a hue of orange. She was late, she could tell.

Finally making way to the clearing, she was greeted with narrowed almond-shaped eyes and downward tilt of lips.

She felt the urge to make an excuse for her tardiness, and honestly, she didn’t know why.

“Wait, you expected them to kill me?” Kagome asked, her mouth gapped open.

“Spiders are known for their appetite of the human flesh, I am…surprise that she did not kill you.” With that said, Sesshomaru pivoted on his heel, walking further into the woods.

Kagome stared in disbelief, what is it with everybody trying to kill her? Sesshomaru set the bait and he expected for the spider to take it, and of course his plans were foiled by unpredictability. She cursed him in her mind while subconsciously stroking the pelt still wrapped around her body.
