Fairy Tales
Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.
A/N: When I can, I’ll update in batches of two. Hope you’re enjoying things so far! :) Update 1 of 2.
Chapter 8: Fairy Tales
“Do you believe in Santa Claus?”
Every year she asked him that same question. And every year, he responded in kind:
“Do you?”
It wasn’t like Sesshoumaru had ever meant to make Kagome frustrated with his answer–or, lack thereof–he just didn’t know what to tell her.
He had been raised in an entirely different environment than she had. His whole household had believed in the logical and practical. In his family’s opinion, fact vastly overruled fantasy. He had grown up with their ideals–dull and shackled to a world of black and white. While his father was more easygoing in terms of personality compared to his mother, their relationship was more strained than anything… especially since Touga had remarried and sired his half-brother, Inuyasha.
Sesshoumaru had led a lonelier childhood than most. He firmly believed it was due to his family’s inability to function like a normal one.
He was just thankful that Kagome had found him when she did. She had given so much to him and never asked for anything in return.
And he would gladly give his heart and his whole being to her.
He was hers, and she was his.
Maybe Santa Claus really did exist.
