Chapter 74: Cupid
“I know he gets on your nerves, but Kouga-kun means well.”
Sesshoumaru only shrugged, adjusting his hold around Kagome’s shoulders. He squeezed her briefly before he relaxed and nuzzled her head. The two were strolling away from the aforementioned man’s house, opting to take a walk around the neighborhood before returning to their own home.
“You know…” Kagome trailed off, clearly expecting a response of some kind from him.
He complied. “Hn?”
“If it wasn’t for him, we probably wouldn’t have gotten together.”
Sesshoumaru, of course, already knew this, but he would not acknowledge it aloud. “Really?”
“Really,” she answered. “He’s like our own Eros!”
Her husband snorted. “If that is true, I must have been hit with lead.” Kagome suddenly gasped in outrage and smacked his arm. He turned narrowed eyes down at her. “What?”
“How rude!”
“What is?” he repeated.
“You just said you hate me!”
Sesshoumaru frowned in confusion. “I did not.”
“You did!”
“When?”
“Lead, Maru-kun! L-E-A-D!”
“So?”
The female’s jaw clenched tightly. “Gold arrows make people fall in love.”
“I know.”
“Ugh!”
“Lead was directed toward that fool.”
This brought Kagome’s tirade to an abrupt halt.
“To… Kouga-kun?”
“Yes, Kagome. I love you.”
“Oh.”
“You are supposed to say `I love you’ back,” Sesshoumaru gently reminded her. “Unless…” He smirked when she immediately embraced him, muttering apologies into his chest.
“I love you!” she told him repeatedly.
He rested his chin atop her head with a soft sigh. “I know.”
“I’m sorry.” At his low hum, she pressed closer to his body and continued, “I should have known better. I didn’t mean to doubt you, Maru-kun.”
Sesshoumaru smiled into her hair. “I never thought you did.”
