Chapter 43: Normalcy

I never knew that planning a wedding would be so hard!”

Sesshoumaru arched a brow as he took in the sight of Kagome sprawled on her back on the couch in their living room. Her arm was thrown carelessly over her eyes, while her other hand hung over the side, barely brushing against the floor. With a soft smile, the man sat down beside her and took her feet into his lap.

Fingers working deftly to massage the muscles in them, he spoke. “Why did you not hire Sango for the job?” he inquired soothingly. “That is what she does for a living, is it not?”

Well, yeah,” she murmured lamely. “But it’s our wedding. I’m not saying that I don’t think highly of her skills, or anything, I just want it to be special.”

So, for sentimental reasons, you denied the work of a professional,” Sesshoumaru stated plainly.

Exactly.” She sighed when he worked out a particular kink in the sole of her foot. “I guess I’m an idiot, huh?”

He huffed. “I do not think so. It is not foolish to care about something, Kagome.”

Thank you,” she breathed, shrieking when Sesshoumaru touched a sensitive spot on her skin. A devilish smirk lit up his features as he tickled her again, relishing in the sweet sound of her laughter.

Ah! S-stop, Maru-kun!”

Ignoring her plea, his fingers ghosted over her sides, earning another round of girlish giggles.
