Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.

A/N: Who are the baddies? If you guess correctly, I’ll give you a cookie! :) Update 3 of 4.

Chapter 106: Spiral

They should have run.

But they hadn’t.

Sesshoumaru had gone after the big, lumbering fool first. His death had been easy–too quick… and unsatisfying. He hadn’t even had time to beg for his pathetic life before his head was wrenched from his shoulders. All it had taken was a sickening twist, and his body collapsed under his staggering weight. Sesshoumaru had taken his robotic arm as a trophy of his kill, a splash of carmine staining the metal. Everything else had been melted by his poison.

Even now, the corrosive acid dripped steadily from his nails, turning into hissing steam as the drops hit the asphalt ground. The silver-haired man honestly didn’t care that he had just committed a murder on the street. He hadn’t cared when he had killed Kagura all those years ago, so why would he start now? Besides, no one was around to witness Sesshoumaru’s sin as he had parked the car in an obscure lot a few blocks away. Because Kagome hadn’t wanted to get caught in the traffic at the end of the night, Sesshoumaru had found an area that was fairly deserted but was within walking distance to the festival.

How the two men had found it, he did not know. But if he was to hazard a guess, he would say that he and Kagome had been followed there. While he’d been distracted by their prior conversation, the smaller of the males–the bandana clad one had to have been the mastermind–had probably doused their car in gasoline and planted explosives beneath it for good measure. Sesshoumaru had been a fool not to sense the danger beforehand. So, he was at fault as well… though he wouldn’t dwell on it. Not at the present moment, anyway.

He still had someone else to torture, after all.
