Prologue

The test was hard but she did it, she aced it. Now she had a full scholarship to the Demon Academy, and she would be the first human Miko in 3500 years to attended, since Midoriko.

She was honored that the demon lords were allowing her to attend. One lord in particular stood beside her, his white kimono and tall strong frame puffed his chest out with pride.

He had found the little Miko and brought her to the school just as he had done with Midoriko when he was a young pup. The woman child reminded him so much of her. That strong fire spirit which would not back down. He grinned; she would be the fire that would melt the ice.

She stood beside the Western Lord now to face the final test; the test in front of these Youkai. The Northern Lord spoke first.   As a Neko Youkai, he had a voice that sounded a lot like a cat with purrs and sharp hisses, but was kind and gentle.

"Lord Tashio... you have brought to us the Shikon Miko."

"Hai."

Kagome was lost in her own thoughts to the quested directed to the western lord

'Shikon Miko...me?'

She had only heard stories growing up, but with each word spoke by Lord Tashio, his voice commanded every one to hear her out as he turned to her to begin the questioning.

"Shikon Miko what is your name?"

Startled out of her thought's, she turned to her mentor with a smile and said, "Kagome Higurashi."

The demon lords looked baffled and stunned and Lord Tashio smiled.

"Higurashi... of the Higurashi Shrine?"

The Southern Lord, who was a Kitsune, asked in surprise as she smiled again in response.

"Hai, my Lords.  I have lived there all my life in what is left of the Western Lord’s forest, and I was raised on the shrine."

They all mumbled amongst themselves.

"She looks like her...her power was so much like hers...can it truly be her?"

Kagome was confused as she looked up to Lord Tashio.

"What is going on?"

He smiled down at her and whispered, "Only what I have predicted Little Miko."

The Lords looked at her and spoke.

"Priestess Kagome, you are to report to the Demon Academy tomorrow at 6 am sharp, as registration and ranking take time."

So saying the left.

"Ranking?"

She spoke out loud and Kagome was once again lost in her own thoughts wondering,

 ‘What the heck is ranking and what is it needed for?'

Upon seeing her confused puppy face, Tashio began to laugh and commented, "Do not fret Little Miko, you'll understand tomorrow."

She smiled and nodded, and with that, he escorted her home.

Unseen to them, a pair of blue eyes from the Eastern Lord watched them walk away.

"She will be my woman." he said with a grin and went on his way to start his plain.
