Kagome paused in her trek as the sound of water reached her ears. The weather had changed so recently and now the heat was downright unbearable. Kagome looked to the little girl hat was skipping by her side. She didn’t know when but slowly things had started to change and she had a reason to believe it was because of the rose that Rin had given her a couple of days ago. That and Sesshomaru had been treating her differently as well.

Kagome shook her head, pulling herself away from those thoughts. Instead, Kagome reached into her back pack and pulled out her mp3 player. Maybe some music will make it easier to deal with the heat. Putting in the ear buds, Kagome scrolled through her playlist until she came to the song she was looking for. Now this was much better.

Kagome once more paused, but this time she and the others had arrived at the stream that had heard a couple of miles back. Kagome then shut off her music to take off her socks and shoes. She then walked to the water’s edge and dipped her toes in to cool water. Kagome sighed in relief as the water cooled her sweaty body down. She laughed lightly as Rin and Shippo splashed in the lower parts of the stream. The kids were doing much better now that they were cooled off.

Yes, there’s nothing like cool water and good music to brighten up one’s mood. Now that she was feeling better, considerably, Kagome once more turned her thoughts to Rin and her Taiyokai protector. Kagome had noticed that sometime during their travels that her feelings for the big Inu had started to change. She watched the interactions among the Tai’s small pack and she saw what Inuyasha still refused to see. Sesshomaru had changed, and Rin was as the center of that change. Kagome looked up from her thoughts as the sound of her name, to see Shippo and Rin calling to her. Smiling, Kagome headed over to join the two in their water games. Soon the sounds of laughter filled the campsite, as the miko and the two children played in the flowing water.
