Chapter One

The great Inu no Taishou sat behind his large mahogany desk while he waited for the lord's of the East, North, and South to arrive. He was deep in thought when he felt the familiar prick on his face that told him his loyal servant Myouga had arrived. 

"Milord, your guests have arrived." 

"Very well, send them in." was the only reply Myouga received from his lord. 

"Yes milord" Slowly the three demon lords of the East, North, and South entered and sat before the Lord of the West. The Eastern lord Haru was the first to speak. 

Lord Haru was an inuyoukai like the Western Lord. His bright blue eyes never broke gaze with Inu no Taishou's golden ones as he spoke. "My dear friend you very well know why we are here. You are the only lord who has birthed a son so you must choose one of our daughters for your son's mate. You also know that Kagome would be perfect for him." 

"I am aware of this Lord Haru, but I do not know which one of the three will be right for my son."  

The tigeryoukai, Lord Akiro of the North wanted a stronger tie with the West so he had to try and convince the Western lord that his daughter would be perfect for Sesshoumaru. "Inu no Taishou my daughter, Akemi, would be perfect for your son. I am well aware that Sesshoumaru will grow to be a strong lord, so he will need a strong mate to make strong heirs. My daughter is very skilled in combat and she knows how to keep her mate happy." 

"I shall consider this Akiro. Taiki, do you have anything to add for my consideration for my son's mate?" 

"Yes I do my friend." The Northern lord was silent for most of the time so Inu no Taishou knew that the tigeryoukai had something interesting to say on his daughter's behalf. "My friend I would like if you would consider Hikaru. She is very beautiful and like Akemi she is skilled in combat. She would be perfect for your Sesshoumaru." 

"Thank you my friends I shall consider this information you have shared with me. You shall bring all your daughters to meet Sesshoumaru in a week's time. I will then make my decision." All the lords nodded and bowed. They were then escorted out by one of Inu no Taishou's servants. 

"Milord, how do you plan on telling the young lord?" 

"Myouga, Sesshoumaru doesn't even want a mate, but he knows that he must birth heirs eventually. I just hope he at least falls in love with his mate. It would be better that way." 

"You are correct milord. Hopefully he will fall in love with whoever his betrothed will be."

Sesshoumaru was furious! 'How could father do this to me? He knows that I do not want a mate, but yet he knows that I will agree because I will one day need heirs to the throne. Whoever my mate shall be must respect me or I shall kill her. That's the end of that.'  

The girls standing before him were very attractive, but Sesshomaru did not care. 'I shall pick one that will not annoy me as much as the others would.' Sesshomaru was not aware that there was another girl that had not arrived. When he was about to tell his father who he would take as his mate a beautiful inuyoukai approached along with her father, the Eastern lord. The girl was the most attractive of them all in Sesshomaru's eyes. 

Even though his face was a cold mask his beast was raging on the inside for this girl. She was lovely. Her midnight black tresses reached her waist; her eyes were a beautiful blue like her fathers. The single blue markings that adorned her cheeks were similar to his. On her forehead was the mark of the East, the sun. Sesshomaru knew that he would never love her, but she would make a fine mate. Kagome would be his mate when the time came. Inu no Taishou smiled at his son and told the three girls and their fathers his sons decision.  The Northern and Southern lords were escorted out along with their daughters.  

Haru was delighted, but his daughter wore a scowl on her beautiful face. She apparently didn't want to be Sesshomaru's mate, but she had no choice. She was now promised to Sesshomaru.
