Chapter Seventy Seven
It was well passed dusk by the time Kagome got home and when she sat down at her desk she found an odd wooden box that looked to be hand carved, sitting on top of her desk. Opening it, she found a small sac of different colored crystals and a note that read,
Priestess of Musashi Village,
My mate and I are eternally grateful to you and are in your debt, already my mate tells the pups the story of the “Hero’s of Musashi”, and the fight you waged against the evil Spider to purge the world of the Shikon no Tama. Forever and always, we are on your side. Call us if you need us.
Gin and Kimiko
Kagome smiled and reached for her pen, intent on a return letter before her bath and when she finished and rolled the parchment up and slipped it into a black sheath upon which she left on the desk as she rose. She grabbed a small bag and gathered her baiting supplies before slipping into the adjacent room.
“Oh Rin-chan! I’m glad you are here, I had an emergency patient a few hours ago. I’ve left the report on my desk for you to study. I’m sending you in the morning to check up on her, so I expect you to have taken everything you need with you and a full report afterwards.” Rin smiled and nodded as she set a handful of logs down.
“Of course Kagome-sama! Are you taking a bath? Good, I shall start dinner as I “study”.”
Kagome giggled and nodded, pushing past the straw weave that barred the door, to the outside winter night. She had asked Inuyasha and Miroku to make sure the new family had provisions, wood and shelter and Inuyasha ensured her that not only would he make sure the little family was “set-up” he would relocate them in a few days to a den he himself would make Apparently he was quite taken with the newborn pups and could be seen going to and from the village as Kagome made her way to the Hot Springs just North of the village.
Upon reaching the springs she quickly disrobed and toed the water, finding it satisfactory she easily submerged herself with a very well executed dive, if she did say so herself. Skimming the bottom, Kagome let the heat sting across every stretch of flesh before rising and sweeping hair back from her face in a way that sent water arching high above her. Easing down to her chin Kagome closed her eyes and relished in the blissful heat of the spring, opening her eyes only enough to view the steam as it rose off the water’s surface. She wasn’t sure how she felt, being called a hero. So she helped kill Naraku, all she did was make a tiny little wish… and then spent three years in pain from loss. Her world was so conflicted, it this was the world of a Hero….
