~*Tears In Heaven*~
Kagome woke in a cloud of fluff and whitness. She smiled as she snuggled further into the fluff. Maybe her dreams were finally
coming true. She forced her eyes open, hoping to be staring into those beautiful golden eyes again. But when she did, she was
only greeted with the sun shining through a barred window. Kagome groaned and slowly rose from the bed.
Oh, yea.
The Tokyo City Mental Institute. That's where she was and that's why she was surrounded by the all the white. Upon closer
inspection she realized that it wasn't even fluffy. She felt a bubble of anger rise when she remembered why she was here. It was
all her fault. That one night they had shared, promises of love and mating coming from his lips. When she looked into his eyes,
she could tell her really meant it. But after she'd wished the jewel out of existence, she was forced back into the future. She'd
tried so many times to go back, but the well would no longer accept her. She didn't have the jewel and there for, didn't have a
connection with the past. With him. And for awhile it had been that everytime she saw someone that even resembled him, she'd
chase them down until she realized that it wasn't. Her mother had been worried after a year of this and soon called those lovely
people in white.
They even gave her a special jacket with extra long sleeves and lots of buckles. She rolled her eyes at the sarcastic thought.
She had asked for pencils and papter that day. She wanted to draw. She needed to see his face again. Her nurse watched her
as she expertly doodled his eyes. And then his nose. His mouth that had trailed hot kisses all over her body.
"Why that's wonderful dear." She said. "Who is it?" Kagome then drew his ears and markings. She took great care in his
crescent moon. Making sure it was perfect. The nurses smile faded as Kagome answered.
"He was the greatest demon this world had ever known. He was kind, and caring, though he'd never admit it." Kagom giggled
as she remembered how angry he'd gotten when she cornered him about his fatherly feelings for Rin. "He was the Lord of West
and ruler of my heart." She finished sadly as she also finished his long silver hair. The nurse laughed nervously and took the
pencils.
"Alright, dear, I think that's enough art for today. Why don't you give me the drawing?" She reached for the picture but
Kagome snatched it away.
"No." She said simply. "He's mine." She clutched the paper to her chest and looked at the nurse with a panicked expression.
The nurse held up her hands in a non agressive gesture.
"Alright, dear, now just calm down." The nurse said. "I'm just going to take it and put it away so it won't get ruined. Kagome
just shook her head. Finally the nurse gave up. She was going to have to tell the doctor about this.
~~~~xXxXx~~~~
"Dr. Onigawa?" The nurse knocked on the dr's door. When she heard the ok to enter she stepped inside.
"Miss Hakita. What can I do for you?"
"I'm afraid that a patient is being particuarly difficult today." The nurse said blushing. She'd always been fond of Dr. Onigawa.
He was tall and handsome and the most lucious black hair she'd ever seen. His eyes were such a light hazel they almost looked
golden. When they flicked to her, she felt her blush deepen even more. "I'm just wondering what I should do?"
"What are they doing?"
"She has drawn a picture." The doctor wanted to snort. What was so unruly about that? He quirked a brow. "Well, more
specifically, the picture she's drawn, is the whole reason she's in here." Again he quirked a brow, waiting for her to continue.
"She's drawing demons and telling stories of time travel." Dr. Onigawa set down his pencil and linked his fingers together.
"Time travel?"
"Yes. When she first came here, her mother had told us that she was rambling on and on about going back to the past. She had
actually jumped down a well several times in an attempt to go back to the past." The dr's eyes widened slightly.
'An old well?' He thought. 'It can't be?' Standing he looked at the nurse. "What is the patients name?"
"Higurashi, Kagome. She is Dr. Washubi's pat-" But the nurse was cut off. Dr. Onigawa had rounded his desk so quickly, the
nurse was sure she'd blinked longer than she thought.
"What room?"
"Uh.. 117. But..." She couldn't finish. The doctor strode passed her and down the hall. How long had she been here and he'd
never even known it. What kind of a fool was he? Before he knew it he was standing in front of room 117. Her scent was here,
and it was tainted with sadness and drugs. How? How could he not have known? Taking in a deep shaking breath, he opened
her door.
She sat in the corner, staring at the drawing. He immediantly noticed how thin she'd become. Almost as if she were a skeleton
with skin. Her hair had become dull and lifless. Her skin, unnaturally pale. He watched as her thin fingers traced the crescent
moon on the paper. He stepped closer and noticed that it was he, staring back at her. She had drawn his old self, and stared at
it with such love and adoration.
"I've done nothing wrong, you know." She said softly, her voice a little hoarse. He cringed. He had missed her voice so much
over the many years and now that he heard it, it was not the same. How long had she been in here?
"I know." She turned her head slightly to him, a curtain of hair still hiding her eyes.
"You're not here to take him away from me?"
"I am not."
"Then why are you here?" She asked, turning her face back to the drawing.
"I simply came to talk." He said. Suddenly a flash back popped into his mind. The night he realized that he cared for the young
miko. They had had a conversation similar to this. Perhaps... She would remember? "I came here tonight in hopes of finding
you. A kind soul that never turned anyone away. A pure heart that would accept anyone... Perhaps even me?" He watched as
her fingers stopped tracing. There was a long pause.
"And why wouldn't I accept you?" She asked, just as she had so many years ago.
"I am an evil thing upon this earth. A cold man who had never known love until I found you." Slowly she began turning to him.
"You are not evil. And I don't believe you are cold." She said the words as if she were reciting a line from a poem. "You're
eyes are like the sun, so warm and bright. And they say that the eyes are the windows to the soul." Finally their eyes met, and
Sesshomaru was horrified to see that her eyes had lost their sparkle, the fire deep within them that he'd come to love so much.
Was she so far gone that she was only a shell of the woman that he had come to love? She cocked her head slightly. "I know
you."
Would you know my name if you saw me if heaven?
Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on 'cause I know I don't belong here in heaven.
Would you hold my hand if I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand if you saw me if heaven?
I'll find my way through night and day 'cause I know that I just can't stay here in heaven.
Sesshomaru walked over and took her hand. For a moment she did not respond to his touch. He repeated every gesture, every
sentence that had been exchanged that faitful night. He brushed the hair out of her face.
"You eyes are like heaven. The likes of which I do not deserve." He said, placing a hand on her cheek. "The moon shines so
brightly in them, I am blinded by the beauty and love held there."
Time can bring you back down.
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart.
Have you begging please, begging please.
Kagome sensed something familiar. The feeling of his hand on her cheek. The words he spoke. The desire that built deep in her
belly. This was familiar. This was real. Kagome blinked a few times as if coming out of a trance. She looked around, staring at
the white walls and then soft hazel eyes. Eyes that were dangerously familiar. She stared just above his eyes hoping to find
some sign of who she was hoping he was. Was he? Could he really be? Disappointment coiled within her. It wasn't him. But
then... How could he know to say all those things? She stared harder at him. His hair was long and gorgeous but it was black
and not the silver she longed to see. His face was the same shape. His eyes were just as calculating but they held warmth when
they regaurded her.
Sesshomaru watched her and knew she was looking for some sign that he was who he was implying he was. He wanted so
bad to show her that he was who she wanted him to be. There! A flash deep in her eyes. A flash of recognition.
"Kagome..." He whispered. "We have to get you out of here."
Beyond the door, there's space I'm sure.
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven
Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven?
Would you feel the same if I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong and carry on, 'cause I know I don't belong here in heaven.
In a flash, they were gone. Sesshomaru had scooped her up and taken her far away from that evil place. For years he'd felt as
if that place had been sucking the life out of him and now, as he held her in his arms, he realized that what he felt was nothing
compared to what she had gone through. He spent years searching for her and had only given up recently. He wanted to roll his
eyes at the old saying that you only find what you are after, once you stop looking for it. It seemed that the farther away they
got from that wretched place, the more and more Kagome seemed like she was realizing who she was. Who he was. She
stared into the face of her rescuer as watched as his disguise melted away, and her demon lord appeared.
"Sess - Sesshomaru..." She whispered hoarsly. "It's you... It's really you!" Sesshomaru felt his heart mend itself when her arms
wrapped around his neck in a tight hug. Kagome was filled with such happiness she cried. He held her closer to him as he took
them farther and farther away.
"Yes, Kagome. I'm here." He said as he nudged her hair with his nose. "There is no more need for tears."
