Betrayal

"Come on dude! Move faster," whined a young woman.

"Okay, okay, don't get your undies in a bunch," replied a young man.

"Hey, its not my fault that a snail moves faster that you, James,” the young woman sent back.

An older woman chuckled at her little sister's response. James mumbled something incoherent and stepped aside.

"There, are you satisfied Empress Kagome," asked James sarcastically.

Kagome looked at him and said, "Yes. Thank you, my dear head servant."

“Now, now you two save it for when get home. I'm sure that the high empress Selenia would disapprove of your behavior," Adair cut in.

All three looked at each other and laughed lively. It seemed that no matter how old they got, they still found time to be young again. The two older siblings had come to visit their birth mother and brought Kagome along to take her mind off of Inuyasha... again. Kagome had seen Inuyasha with Kikyo together when she went to gather some herbs, this time it was different. kikyo actually kissed Inuyasha first and well,it hurt Kagome.

Though, they have no idea why they even bothered to see Selenia. She always rejected them. It wasn't just her but the two children she had as well (from the first marriage anyway). Kagome and Adair bid farewell to their brother and proceeded to leave the mansion. Adair tried to figure out why their mother Selenia hated them so. She and James were disowned when their father, Edmund, died. Kagome was too small to remember much of him but she and James made sure to tell Kagome all they knew of him. Adair and James could care less about the inheritance. They were taught by their father that power and money wasn't everything and how to work for things.

“Maybe she hates you because father's blood runs strongest through me, James, you and Sota," said Kagome.

Adair still remembered the hate she bore toward them even before lord Edmund died. "No. I remember how she hated me and James since we were born. In fact your mother, Maya, was more of a mother to us then herself," said Adair as they neared her red 2008 Ferrari. It was a nice sunny day, not too hot, not too cold, perfect. The wind blew making Adair's long black, blue tinted, curly hair dance and  it swept through Kagome's silky, straight, black tresses before they got into her car.

Adair took one last look at the house. There in the window of her mother's room Adair saw her mother looking out to her. Adair could clearly see the hate, rage, coldness present in Selenia's eyes, even though she was about four hundred feet away. Then again, distance is nearly insignificant to a full blooded black inu-youkai such as herself. Adair held some sadness but soon returned to her emotionless ,cold state. The only ones who saw her soft side were James, Kagome, Sota, Maya, and Gramps.  Adair got into her car and got an idea, an evil idea. Smirking, Adair popped in a Soulja Boy CD and played “Crank That”. Kagome saw the smirk her sister had on her face when she popped in the CD.

Kagome got an evil look in her eye and said, "Now the bitch will know how real women party,” she laughed maniacally. Adair looked at Kagome for a second before she too burst out laughing.

Adair left the estate, her speakers blaring at full volume, fully aware that Selenia was seething at her.

He had just given up trying to see their mother. He bid farewell to one of his old friends. he then left and got in to his Porshe. and began to drive off. James then heard “Crank That” by Soulja Boy. He followed the sound and it came from his sister's car. James laughed when he heard Kagome's statement and smirked as he too put the song on to join in.

Adair was about to turn left when she saw James through her rear view, smirking and giving her the thumbs up. Adair laughed with such joy even hell would stop just to hear the sweet melody. Kagome waved to James, then the two left to pack for tomorrow.

 Ugh, tomorrow is going to be hell,' thought Adair.

It was the anniversary of their father's death. After a two hour drive Adair finally reached her estate. She began to pack immediately with the help of Kagome once they entered the mansion. While they were doing a few last minute checks the phone rang.

Kagome checked who was calling and swallowed hard. She turned to Adair with a angry expression on her face.

"Who is it Kagome?" asked Adair.

"It's Taki," replied Kagome.

Adair rubbed her temples and sighed, 'Not that son of a bitch! It's bad enough I had to deal with mother now this,' thought Adair.

It was her ex-fiancé, Taki. He left her when he found out that she couldn't go into heat, much less have pups. "What could he want now? After all he did? I'll let the machine answer the call," said Adair to herself.

“Hello this is Adair Higurashi. Sorry, I can't answer, I'm out of town and don't know when I'll be back. Leave your message and name with your number and I'll get back to you ASAP.” The answering machine's recording sounded.

*beep*

 "Adair this is Taki. Pick up. I know your there! Listen the two of us need to talk about our relationship. Call me back when you hear this message. Please? I was wrong, I shouldn't have left you. I'm sorry and I love you."

*beep*

 Adair felt rage surge through her entire body.
