Kagome looked across the blazing campfire to stare at the one person, or should she say demon, that’s been plaguing her thoughts since he joined their little shard hunting party about two weeks ago.....‘Sesshomaru’ His strong figure was leaning against a tall tree, his jaw slightly relaxed, the stripes that adorned his cheekbones looked dark blue from being illuminated by the fire, his deep golden eyes were hidden from her view as his eyes were closed, but those eyes, those eyes were the key to his soul- she could feel it.
She even saw it earlier today, she closed her eyes at the memory- they had just gathered another jewel shard from a fierce rouge demon and she had cut her arm on one of the demon’s horns. She had ignored her injury and picked up the jewel shard, then she swiftly purified it quickly and put it into the jar around her neck.
She then started to walk to her bag when a clawed, striped hand gently grabbed her wrist. Surprised, she looked into the eyes of the “killing perfection” himself, into his twin pools of pure honey and gasped. In those eyes she had seen concern, and...anger? But it was only for a split second before the coldness returned and he dropped her wrist as if he had been burned, “See to it, miko, that you do not harm yourself with careless foolishness”-
Kagome opened her eyes, they moved to the spot where Sesshomaru sat only to find the space empty. She wondered where he could have gone when suddenly in flash of silver and white, she was no longer on solid ground. She was in the sky, on a... on a cloud? She also realized that she was wrapped in something...really warm..and furry? She glanced around and was shocked to find mister stoic himself staring down at her with....more amusement and was that laughter?? She narrowed her eyes at the demon lord and had her finger ready “ Sesshomaru!Why have you brought me...” her speech was cut short when a single clawed finger was placed upon her lips, “Silence miko, you will know soon enough the reason why I have taken you” Kagome huffed and glared, but she stayed still and tried her best to be patient.
Finally, after what seemed like ages, Sesshomaru lowered his youkai cloud and offered her his hand. She blushed as she took it, but once she was off, her eyes widened and her mouth let out a small gasp. She saw a green meadow, surrounding a single cherry blossom tree with the moonlight shining down on the breathtaking scene. Sesshomaru took her out of her daze when he offered her his arm, “Shall we miko? The reason why I’ve brought you here is about to be revealed”, Kagome cautiously laid her hand on his arm and together they made their to sit underneath the great branches of the old tree. She stared at him, waiting for him to say something, anything. However, he stared straight back at her, not saying anything. She narrowed her eyes, and started to rise “If you have something to say Sesshomaru, then just say it”, nothing. She turned around sharply and began to walk away, “SNAP!”, Sesshomaru was in front of her immediately, and holding a sprig of cherry blossoms.
Kagome’s eyes widened, ‘His eyes! They’re....full of.....of life’ , she carefully placed her hand on the side of his face, and gasped when his own hand came to rest upon hers, dropping the sprig to the floor. His eyes softened even more, if that was possible. “This Sesshomaru.......Kagome, I....... This Sesshomaru wishes to ask that you allow me to....” his speech was cut off as Kagome bravely leaned up and placed her rosy lips first to the side of his jaw, which made the great lord draw in breath, and then they landed on Sesshomaru’s surprisingly soft, velvety ones. The kiss was soft, gentle, and full of promise, and once she was done, she pulled back with a blush as red as a tomato awaiting his response. He smirked, “This one takes it that you have already agreed to what I planned to ask. However, I shall ask anyway. Kagome, will you....would you take me as your mate once the time is right?” Kagome’s eyes softened and placed her other hand opposite the one that was underneath his one hand, “How can I say no? You have given me no reason to diminish the....the love that I have for you.”she shyly smiled “Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands, I would be honored to be your mate and stand by your side for all eternity” Sesshomaru’s eyes suddenly bled red and he immediately dragged her into a steamy kiss. Kagome tensed at first but eased into the kiss as it became deeper.
When the kiss ended, Sesshomaru’s beast held onto Kagome tightly, breathing in her scent. It growled and purred. “Mate. This one asks your permission to place my mark on you so that no male can have you. You are mine now. No male can ever lay their hands on you. Let me mark as my own, little miko.” Kagome pulled away so that she could study the beast, she lightly traced the jagged stripes on his face, “You can recognize me? I.....Well, I thought that youkai beasts only understand the basic instincts, that they cannot recognize people, so to speak”
The beast chuckled, a dark chuckle, “ My little miko, I can recognize because I see you as my mate. I recognize you as my mate and because of this, I am able to...I choose to speak with you in a civilized manner. But do not be fooled little one, I show you compassion and understanding. However I am above all a predator and can be violent at times, but never in your presence. I swear to you, young miko, that as my mate you will have no reason to fear me or my more rational side. You will never be in danger when in either of our company” Sesshomaru demonstrated his words with running his hand through her silken locks.
Kagome looked into his blood red eyes, and took a deep breath. “I give you permission to mark me as your mate” Sesshomaru rumbled his approval and pulled her gently but firmly to his body. He leaned his head down and kissed her lips, the kiss was slow at first but soon heated up. Sesshomaru slid his lips from her oral cavern down the side of her jaw until he reached her neck. Once there he lightly sucked, pulling a few whimpers from his soon to be mate, until Kagome’s head fully tilted to the side. At this time Sesshomaru growled, a ferocious sound, and swiftly sunk his teeth deep within her neck. Kagome tensed at the pain, but relaxed as he carefully pulled his teeth out and began lapping at the puncture wound. Once the wound was properly cleaned, Sesshomaru lead his new mate back to the tree and proceeded to pull her into his lap, “Sleep little one. I will watch over you as you rest.” Felling safer than ever before, Kagome snuggled closer to her white knight and went off into the dream world.
In the morning, Kagome was the first to wake. She gazed up at her love, reaching up to run a hand along the mating scar, she smiled. Her movement woke her slumbering partner, and gold met deep blue as the two lovebirds stared into each other’s eyes. “Good morning Sesshomaru” Kagome said while looking up at him through her thick lashes. Sesshomau’s eyes softened, “Good morning to you, my tiny mate” Kagome smiled, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. With one last secret kiss, the two mates took to the sky and plunged into whatever may lay awaiting them. Together.
