The Talk and the Offer

this will be a saddish story, so yeah.

Kagome walked through the forest, numb. It was dark and she couldn’t see two feet in front of her, but she didn’t care. Anything and everything was outside of her being right now, and the cause was a certain hanyou.

She had recently got in a fight with her friends and a demon over a jewel shard, and when she lost it Inuyasha had freaked, screaming at her and swearing.

“You useless bitch!” He had yelled. “Why can’t you do anything right? You’ll never be as good as Kikyo!”

That was his new way of tormenting her. Comparing her to the dead priestess over and over again, not caring how many times he had made Kagome cry, not caring how bad it made her feel. She had had enough of it, and was ready to just die.

A small part of her still loved Inuyasha, and she couldn’t just leave. That wouldn’t solve anything. So, she decided that death would be a hand better played.

So now she was alone, having left in the middle of the night as Inuyasha ‘secretly’ snuck off to meet Kikyo.

Kagome reached a clearing, and looked around, realized just how far she had gone. So far no demons, but that would be soon solved. She sent out a wave of her reiki, letting the demons in the area that she was unguarded and willing to die. She didn’t care, ad anything to make her feel was welcome.

As a demon entered the clearing, she thought her problems were finally over. She closed her eyes and welcomed death…

But it never came.

She opened her eyes and looked at the demon.

He was tall, with long silver hair, golden eyes, a blue crescent moon on his forehead and twin magenta stripes on his cheeks. His demeanor practically yelled ‘power’, and he wore pristine white robes with a red flower design on the shoulder. A yellow obi held up his pristine white pants, and black boots adorned his feet. He carried two swords, one with a blue hilt and the other a plain white hilt.

“Sesshomaru.” She said, not using a title, which caused the demon to narrow his eyes.

“Miko.” He replied coolly.

“Kill me.” She said, closing her eyes. She knew the daiyoukai was a hater of most humans, aside from his ward, Rin, and was sure he would comply.

“Why should I?” He asked, surprising her into opening her eyes. He seemed to be observing her, trying to figure something out.

“I have nothing to live for.” She stated, and a silver eyebrow rose in question.

“Continue.” He said, and she sighed.

“Inuyasha thinks me useless, and I am.” She looked at the ground, not able to cry anymore but a few managed to slip out. “I’ll never be as good as Kikyo.”

“What makes the dead priestess better than you?” He asked, and she looked up at him, confused as to why he wouldn’t kill her.

“She’s a better fighter, and I always mess things up.” She said.

“But she will fade, and you have time to learn.” He said, again surprising her.

“Why won’t you kill me?” She asked angrily, stomping up to him and glaring at him. “I thought you hated humans, so why not? I’m just some silly little girl!” He didn’t say anything, only looked at her as for her to continue. “I’ll never be any good, and no one wants me around-”

“What of the slayer?” He asked, succeeding in stopping her. “And the kit, of the monk?”

“I’m sure they would get over it,” She mumbled, looking at the ground.

“Wrong, miko.” He said. “They would mourn you. Many others as well. Your death would not just be for you, but those around you or those who have been around you.”

“I never thought of that.” She admitted quietly. “Btu then what should I do? I can’t go back, I won’t.”

She thought of what would happen if she stayed with Inuyasha. He would continue to get mad at her, and she would probably get worse than she already was.

“Then,” He said, taking a step toward her so that they almost touched. “Come with me.”
