As she pedaled along the mountain pass, Kagome was too distracted by the demon she spotted farther up ahead to notice the large rock in the middle of the road. But her bike noticed it.

After a flurry of motion which left her in the dirt, dizzy and weakened, she looked up blearily, moments later, seeing a white figure standing over her.  When it came into focus, she was surprised to see Sesshoumaru staring down at her.

There was a pregnant silence, besides Kagome’s heavy breathing and the still spinning wheels on her bicycle.

“Shall I lend you my assistance?”
