Kagome was tossing and turning restlessly in her sleep. Something important was happening; even unconscious she could feel it. Suddenly there was nothing but a white expanse in front of her.

‘What is this?’

She could feel wind blowing through her hair.

‘Where am I?’

She was sitting upright upon something that was moving, rapidly.

‘My eyes, I can’t… Open them…’

Her hands reached out in front of her to find something solid, and warm- she felt scales.

‘Is this real?’

A great roar shook her body, and with that, her eyes flew open.

‘Clouds?’, as far as she could see there were clouds, beneath those clouds were mountains. As her eyes traveled lower her face filled with panic.

‘A dragon!’ the fear crept into her veins, ‘I’m on a dragon!’

Laughter exploded in her head, a voice deep and earthly began to speak, ‘Zu’u ni hin hokoron.’

‘You… you’re not?’ She thought in disbelief, ‘ How can you hear my thoughts?’

‘Daar los hahnu. Mal hun, hin tiid los het.’

‘My time? My time for what?’

‘Hin tiid do krif, do krii. Hin krilot kriid. Hin Faal Kulaas do Kun.’

‘The Princess of Light? Me? Killing, death, a… slayer! A slayer of what?!’

‘Hin krilot do viing vith. Hin krilot do Alduin. Krilot do vokul, vokum, vol. Hin ronaaz ahrk do tuz fen mah daar vokul, mahfaeraak.’

‘You think I can defeat dragons? Who is Alduin, and what about Naraku?’

‘Naraku los vandindoraan wah Alduin vokul. Alduin los Faal Al do Mundus. Rok fen ni kos zind voth gein lein, rok fen meyz do hin lein.’

‘Something worse than Naraku is coming? How can I stop this? There is a way, right?!’

‘Geh, fin suleyk ko geinmaar.’

‘The power in me? I don’t think I have enough power for that…’

‘Faal Rotmulaag ahst hin aaz.’

‘Words of power… ? I don’t have any words of power.’

This time real laughter erupted around her, a deep rumbling that sounded as if it came from the earth itself.

‘Morah briinah. Komeht fin suleyk tol los hinne.’

‘I haven’t been properly trained. If force my powers too much… I may not be able to control it.’

‘Faal suleyk hinne. Ni krehhe wah hin fen.’

‘O-okay…’

She took several deep breaths to calm herself. Looking down at her hands, she decided that they would be the best place to start. She concentrated on her hands, opening and closing them. Focusing on her palms, she imagined a power deep within her body. Her eyes fluttered shut as she concentrated.

She now knew this was real, she could feel it swimming through her body and moving into her hands. She began to tingle with this power; the tingling sensation was growing stronger- warmer. She had to see it.

As she glanced at her hands the blue aura around them expanded rapidly, until it completely engulfed her. She could feel it wrapped around her, pulsating and whipping, as if angry.

The dragon beneath her gave a sudden lunge towards the ground, tossing Kagome off his back. She could see the dragon flying away overhead, to a large snow covered mountain. As she tilted in the air, she noticed the ground coming at her far too quickly. She grew closer to the ground and realized that no one was coming to save her.

What startled her the most was her lack of fear, she was more worried about how unafraid she felt. She calmly closed her eyes and waited for the impact.

P.S. – I know the first chapter is confusing. It’s supposed to be. :3 Please have patience with me!
