Evolution of Red (Spectrum Challenge)

Kagome had seen a lot of red in her time in the feudal era, all of it unexpected and evolving.

The first time she had seen it had been when a boy with sweet little koinu ears and a foul mouth had refused to use her name. She had literally seen red.

The second time had been when she had suffered her first crush on the same boy. It had been from the corner of her eye as he placed his robe of the same color over her head to protect her from her first demon. He had then used her name, and she had fallen into puppy love, no pun intended.

This second version she had paid witness to for many years; traveling with the hanyou boy and the inutachi, campaigning after the evil Naraku. But the boy belonged to another, and time and again, this lusty red turned to blue.

Now, years later, Kagome opened her azure eyes to look upon the deep red that signified love and passion to her. Her ebony hair soaked with rain, sticking to her pale skin, she focused on the stark slashes of deep crimson across the pale expanse of alabaster. Slowly, long sooty lashes opened, and honey eyes opened across from her. Breaking their kiss, Sesshomaru brought one hand up to gently caress the miko's cheek.

Kagome watched the stripes on his wrist as he held her face in his palm and marveled at the fact that she had never particularly cared for the color red.
