Kayelyn's Word Challenge - Volant
AN: Posting might be a little slow from now on because I had originally outlined/written to stop at 95 with only 1 chapter left to type. Now I’m trying to push it to an even 100 so I’ll be slowing down in case some of the prompts I settle on fit better inbetween what I’ve already finished writing.
Prompt: Kayelyn’s Weekly Word Challenge – Volant
Definition: moving lightly, nimble. Engaged in or having power of flight. Also called Volant piece (armour).
~ooO Volant Ooo~
They danced gracefully, moving lightly, nimbly between the other couples. Kagome was content to rest her head against her mate’s shoulder. After some time she spoke.
“You dance very gracefully.”
Sesshoumaru arched a slim brow. “You do not expect perfection from me?”
She just laughed. “Not in a non-lethal skill that requires a practice with a partner.”
He sniffed. “Dancing is similar to a kata. And at the core I am a warrior,” he told her.
She looked up with appreciating eyes. “Yes,” she agreed without hesitation and they continued to dance. Then she noticed something. “You’re cheating!” she hissed.
He looked amused. “Cheating? How so?”
“You’re floating to increase the smoothness of your turns.”
“And why would I not? It is how I move in battle.”
“Humans can’t fly!” Kagome sputtered irate.
“This is not a contest but our wedding. No one is losing because I choose to use a natural talent of my kind.”
Kagome went over the argument and in the end she had to agree. It wasn’t a professional dance competition where Sesshoumaru was being ranked above others.
Finally she mumbled softly, “I can’t fly.”
“If you wish to fly I will take you flying.”
A small smile curved her lips as she remembered all the times she had flown with him. “Oh yes. It’s been too long.”
