Riku Ryuu's Prompt - Bed

~ooO Bed Ooo~

It had more than two weeks now and it was official: Kagome hated the future. She spent the first ten days on tenterhooks waiting for Sesshoumaru to show up. When he hadn’t she’d gone out to the Well House and jumped into the well once every hour hoping the stupid portal would open up and let her go back. She had only gone back into the house to eat, use the bathroom, and to sleep.

But it hadn’t. On the fifth day, late in the afternoon Kagome broke down and began crying on the floor of the well house. She had lost count of the number of attempts she had made. Her shins, ankles, and knees were very bruised and sore from the multiple impacts of landing on hard packed dirt.

She was barely aware of her mother dragging her up to her feet. Kagome just sobbed silently as her mother and brother carried her into the house, up the stairs to her room, and settled her on her bed.

A gentle hand touched the top of her head. But these hands had no claws that would delicately stroke her sensitive points. The young woman’s eyes blurred with fresh tears.

“Kagome, I know you are hurting but you can’t keep going on like this.” Her mother’s voice shook with repressed emotion. “I felt like it was the end of the world when I lost your father, but I managed. You will too.”

Kagome simply turned on her side, away from her family, and buried her face into her pillow. She remained huddled in a ball until she heard the soft padded foot falls, the door close, and the stairs creak. Once she was certain they were downstairs she uncurled fractionally and began crying almost soundlessly, tears soaking into her pillow.

She did not want to get up and go on. She did not want to acknowledge that she was trapped in the future, far away from her mate with no way back. She wanted Sesshoumaru.
