Kagura was pleased and afraid in turns. Pleased because Naraku was weakened. Information and guile had always been the hanyou’s primary strengths, he made plans using what others didn’t know, plans that allowed him to triumph or escape justice. Afraid because she was terrified of what a cornered Naraku would do. What would he do to prove to himself he was still strong and powerful, that his hold on Kagura, were still strong and intact? The kaze-youkai was terrified he would use her heart to forge stronger chains to bind her to him. She did not want to be bound any tighter to her enslaver, like Kanna and Kohaku! Kagura hoped he would not think of that, of stripping away her personality and leaving her as a lifeless doll. She hoped that he would be satisfied with having just her heart in his possession.

Tears escaped and slipped down pale cheeks though the kaze-youkai did not make a sound. She was not meant for this! To be trapped, enslaved, chained to another’s whims… she wanted to be free, to soar high and fly as she wished. For a long time Kagura had hoped Sesshoumaru would rescue her, would break her chains and make her his, but that hope had long faded. Now Kagura would be deliriously happy just being freed from Naraku.
