The Unspoken Vow

Super sorry for the ginormous gap between updates... I'm back, though, for those who waited!

Thank you, as always, to my lovely beta, Stella, for being the Grecian goddess she is!

“Kagura? She is always meddling.” Sesshomaru sighed, his head leaning on the headboard as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and forefinger.

Scooting closer to him, Kagome held the covers to her bosom, hiding herself from him. She couldn’t help but stare at the way his eyebrows knitted together in frustration, and she grew envious of how attractive he really was.

“So… are you still married? Were you ever married?” Kagome pried, seeing this as a golden opportunity to get some real answers. Sesshomaru shook his head, dropping his arms to his sides.

“We were married, years ago. We have long since been separated.” Sesshomaru admitted, turning to Kagome with his devious, molten stare. “This one is devoted to her no more.”

Kagome felt burning pleasure at the sultry tone in his voice as he spoke. Almost as if he were saying, ‘You are the one this Sesshomaru treasures, for she does not compare.’

She giggled a bit as she imagined him saying that.

‘He even speaks in the third person in my thoughts!’

Sesshomaru raised a brow towards Kagome, wondering just what was making her laugh the way she did.

“This is amusing to you?” Sesshomaru asked, a bit unnerved at how she was taking the situation.

“Oh, no, no! I was just thinking something, and… oh, never mind. You probably think I’m crazy or something.” Kagome sighed, turning over in the bed and wrapping the covers around her shoulders.

She felt the bed shift as his weight pressed against her, his chest hot against the smoothness of her back.

“You do possess… unexplainable qualities. It is what interests this one.”

Kagome turned around, blushing as her breasts pressed against him, unable to look away from the prison of his golden eyes.

“So… we’re together now, right? You guys are… done?” Kagome asked meekly, ashamed of how timid she was being right now. She couldn’t help it, though. She cared deeply for this man, and after finally securing him, she was afraid of losing him.

“There is no other. This one has removed himself from all others, not including your person.” His voice was rich, deep, as the heat from his words revived the butterflies in her belly once more.

She snuggled into his chest, taking in the scent of his masculine form, and sighed softly.

“Good, because I’m not sharing.”

His deep chuckle shook her body, rumbling through his chest.

“Then I shall not share, either.”

“Sesshomaru! We just finished this!” Kagome blushed, feeling his hardened member brush against her thigh.

“As you will soon find out,” he growled softly, turning them over so he was towering over her, “this requires much… attention.”

Inuyasha sighed softly, thinking over Kagura‘s proposition. He looked to the phone on his desk, then looked to his reflection in the glass window behind him. Should he take up such an offer? It could give him his life back, and even make it better. On the other hand, Kagome was already happy with her life, or so he’d like to think.

He’d already made the decision to let her go, but it was something he was still unsure about. Kagura promised him he would not be sorry…

…but he couldn’t live with himself if he had done this. Growling, he threw the phone against the wall, watching as it indented the drywall and shattered as it met the ground. Running a clawed hand through his thick, silver hair, he made a vow to himself.

Kagome’s happiness was all that mattered. He at least owed her that.
