"Kukuku...Kagome do you think your little wood sticks will be enough to end me? Put them down before you hurt yourself, but must admit, You are brave to stand up on your own against me," The dark hanyou laughed maniacally as the little priestess struggled to her feet, blood trickled down the sides of her mouth and she could swear she had broken her rib cage. Her body ached with every breath she took as she glanced around for her friends. Tears streamed down her cheeks at the gruesome sight while anger began to surge up from within her.

.

A few meters away lay Sangos battered body, atop of her a lifeless Miroku, their fingers entangled with one another. They would be together as they were in life. Meanwhile, trying to shield the couple, Kiala fought ferociously at the oncoming demons though exhaustion was clearly shown in the neko. Kagome's heart cringed as she glanced down behind her at the small figure covered in blood, his orange hair now a dark red and behind him another little motionless figure lay. Managing to move over towards them, she stroked the little fox kits hair out of his face. Tears dripped down onto his delicate face, he looked as if he were asleep.

Kagomes head pounded as she could hear Inuyasha grumbling as he struggled to his feet only to be knocked down by Naraku's tentacles.His body was battered to the max, his breathing became harder as his body tried to shut down of exhaustion. But he wouldn't allow it, he couldn't be taken down by Naraku, he had to pay! 

.

"Naraku!" the sliver haired hanyou spat as he swung his mighty sword, sending his famous wind scar towards the laughing Naraku. The evil hanyou snickered as the wave clashed along his barrier, watching Inuyasha fall on a knee, grasping a wound in his chest.

.

"Dragon Strike!"

.

Sesshomaru burst throw the walls of Narakus palace with his massive, youki filled, lightening dragon leading the way, heading directly towards Naraku. He frowned as the dragon attempted to break the barrier but failed. 

.

"Keh, it's not the easy." Inuyasha stood once again, using tessaiga to balance. Sesshomaru scoffed as he scanned the scene till someone caught his eye.

.

'Rin!' 

.

His heart panicked as he dashed towards his human ward. He lifted her towards him, placing his ear against her cold chest. 

.

No heart beat...

.

"I'm so sorry lord Sesshomaru, we weren't in time.."Kagome frowned as she watched the taiyoukai place the girl down. He looked down at her pale face stained with blood, she would never be there smile again at him when he would return. His little Rin was no more and now that she was worth more than anything he had.

.

He couldn't bring her back.

.

His heart crumbled as his eyes began to bleed red. His inner beast was trying to take control, oh how he wanted to tear Naraku apart, limb by limb. The taiyoukai's fangs clenched along with his fists. He'd make the hanyou suffer for this indeed.  

.

Kagomes eyes widened as she heard a deep growl emitting from the inuyoukai. Suddenly his aura flared along with his youki, spiraling around him, he stood up. His bangs covered his eyes as his jaw lengthened. Kagome and Inuyasha gasped, they knew what was to come they've seen this before. Naraku arched a brow in amusement perhaps this would now get interesting. 

.

Howling in his true form, Sesshomaru pounced towards the dark haired hanyou, his poison spilling every where from his teeth. 
 
.

Naraku leaped up dodging Sesshomarus paw, but the mighty dog swung another, managing to swat the hanyou the wall. Naraku did not feel the impact thanks to his barrier but was shocked at the speed the massive dog had, despite being big.

.

Kagome watched the two, bringing up her arrows, waiting for the perfect time. Inuyasha watched her from the corner of his eyes and prepared as well. If they attacked at the same time then it should be enough power to break through. Nodding at one another, they continued to watch as the might inu attacked Naraku like a puppy after a butterfly. 

.

"Keh, he's lost it." Inuyasha snickered to himself. As Sesshomarus attempts failed. Narakus focus crawled away from the two below and onto the blood thirsty dog in front of him, giving him a open shot. Sesshomaru shot out more poison, Naraku laughed and dodged by leaping, Inuyasha leapt up  after him, swinging tessaiga and another windscar was released.

"Kukuku this again?" Naraku continued to laugh till he noticed the smirk on Inuyashas face. 

.

"Now Kagome!" Inuyasha screeched as Kagomes fingers let go of the sacred arrow and headed towards the wave of power sent by tessaiga. Both merging into one large attack. Naraku gasped as the power clashed onto his barrier, the pressure was intense. Sesshomaru howled as he returned into his humanoid form and pulled out Tokijin, holding it up and swiftly swung, his youki spiraling down his arm into the sword and letting out his lightening dragon to aid them. All three attacks collided yet nothing was happening. Beads of sweat formed on the Naraku as he tried to keep his barrier at bay but the pressure was intense. As it seemed the attacks were subsiding, there was the sound of a shatter. Everyone gasped as Sesshomaru pushed more of his youki into the attack.

"Hngh this can't be happening! I have the power of the jewel!" Naraku rasped as the barrier completely shattered and a blinding light appeared. Kagome sank to her knees as Inuyasha smirked. Was it finally over?

.

Sesshomaru blinked a couple times as the light dispersed only to let out a growl when he felt a fist make impact to his cheek. 

.

"Kukuku, just because my barrier is gone doesn't mean I am!" Naraku let out a sinister laugh breaking Kagomes hopes. She pounded her fists into the ground. "Why won't you just die!?" she thought out loud. Everyones gaze turned to her as she rose to her feet. Sesshomaru was still in beast mode, he let out a deep growl and leapt forward again, his claws oozing of Dokkaso. The dark haired hanyou dodged and aimed for Kagome. Inuyasha leapt forward, his heart pounded. He had let Kikyo fdie he wouldn't fail in protecting Kagome too!

"Kagome look out!" Her sapphire eyes closed shut and held up her arms awaiting the impact, she knew couldn't dodge it. She felt something splatter against her cheeks. Opening her eyes slightly she gasped as warm tears escaped her eyes. Infront of her stood Inuyasha, two of Narakus bone spikes poking through his chest. "Ka...Kagome," he rasped as Naraku pulled out and he stumbled forward into her arms. Blood stained his beautiful sliver hair as it oozed out of his body. 

.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome grabbed him as he lost his footing and fell into her arms. His heart beated faintly as more blooded spilled from it. She began to sob as he cupped her cheek, wiping away her tears with his thumb. "Keh I'm okay, Whaddya crying for?" he rasped as his chest began to heave. 

.

Sesshomaru watched from afar and scoffed. Inuyasha was a pathetic hanyou, for him to die by the hands of Naraku proved it. Ignoring their presence, Sesshomaru sprung forth attacking Naraku with tokijin. 

.

"Please don't leave me Inuyasha, your all that I have left in this world!" Kagome sobbed as she held Inuyasha body to her. She loved him with all her heart, though she knew his feelings for Kikyo were stronger, she did not care, She loved Inuyasha and always would. No matter how many times he would toss her aside. His ears flattened against his head and frowned while listening to her sob. He had cared for her deeply as well as he did Kikyo. He knew he had hurt Kagome many times, yet she always remained by his side. She was the one who had brought joy into his life, all his friends it was thanks to her. She had shown him that he was capable to love and to be loved! The pain in his body intensed as his heart cringed tighter. His time had come and it hurt him to know he had not been able to keep his promise to the ones he loved and cared about. All of them died, except for Kagome.

"What am I going to do! I can't go back! I have no one here! " Kagome couldn't stop her tears nor her words. The well had been destroyed by Naraku somehow and everyone she knew was pretty much dead. Inuyasha grasped her wound and sat himself up. He would keep her safe till his last breath, though he felt it was near he'd keep at it. 

.

"Kagome we're going to end this now," Inuyasha struggled back to his feet, now feeling a bit woozy from the huge amount of blood loss. "I need you to purify the jewel once he brings it out to regenerate, think you can do that?" he looked at her sternly as she wiped away her tears. "I'm ready when you are," she whispered as she stood next to him.

"Ah Lord Sesshomaru, why must you fight on the wrong side, join me and let's rule this wretched world," Naraku smirked.

.

"Hn, this Sesshomaru would never join sides with a pathetic hanyou such as yourself who needs powers of others to make themselves stronger, I rely on my own strength!"  Sesshomaru spat as he  moved gracefully side to side avoiding each tentacle then dashing forward at each opening. The clanging of metal ringing through their ears. 

.

"Kukuku, nicely said, too bad we could of made a powerful team."

.

The inuyoukai scoffed as he shot out a youki ball from his sword which seemed to grow as it neared the dark haired hanyou. His laughter could be heard as his body disintegrated within the light. "Get ready Kagome!" Inuyasha shook her arm before he lifted tessaiga ready to swing. 

.

"Kukuku as long as I have this I'm unstoppable!" Naraku held up a complete tainted jewel and laughed as he began to regenerate. 

.

"Now! Wind Scar!" Naraku eyed the attack from the corner of his eyes and managed to send it back, only to gasp as bright light of pink burst through the wave and towards the jewel. Panicking, he tried to absorb the jewel and began to laugh midway when the arrow touched him, sending spiritual sparks into his body, stinging him inside out. 

.

"GAH! What's going on!?" he growled through clenched teeth while still trying to absorb the jewel. Suddenly the jewel flickered white and began to glow, emitting a pink aura. 

.

"You! Your trying to purify it with me?!" Kagomes brows furrowed as she watched him squirm as he was being purified. 

.

"No I'm not going down alone!" sending forth his tentacles with his remaining powers, he aimed for Kagome. She braced her self, hoping she had enough energy for a barrier, but her body shut down. she had used up all her strength.

.

 "No Kagome!" *Swooooosh* 

.

Kagomes eyes widened when she felt tears began to build up once again.
Two tentacles wrapped around Inuyasha's waist as he leapt in her way as a shield. 

.

"Get back! Ka..Kagome!" Inuyasha grunted as the tentacles pulled him back. She tried to reach out to him but another blinding light illuminated the room along with Narakus crys. She held up her arms feeling the sudden burst of wind from the blast fly towards her, sending her into the air and hard into the ground. 

.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome screamed at the top of her lungs and winced in pain, feeling the sharp edges of broken bones poking at her inner organs as she managed to pull off her chest from the ground. Coughing out more blood she peered around for the one most precious thing she had left.

.

Her only love...

.

"Inuyasha!" she called out again when she caught sight of the pile of red and dragged herself towards him with her arms. A bit of hope pounded along with her heart as she neared the hanyou, who lay on his back in a puddle of blood which only seemed to grow. 

.

"Ka..Kago..me," Inuyasha gargled as blood pooled into the back of his throat. His chest heaved as his pierced heart and lungs tried to heal yet couldn't. Turning his golden gaze towards the raven headed girl crawling to him, he smiled and held out his bloody palm grasping her small ones and pulled her onto his chest. She winced a little at the sudden movement but relaxed as he caressed her cheek once again. He frowned when he felt her warm tears drip onto his fingers.

"Don't cry Kagome, it's fi..finally o...over, you did it," he tangled his claws into her blood drenched hair. She bit her bottom lip trying to stop her tears but she couldn't. Picking up tessaiga in it's sheath he held it out for her to take it.

.

"Listen I want you to take tessaiga with you, it'll protect you since.." his words faded as his gaze lowered. Her heart skipped a beat at his words.

.

 "No you can't leave me!" 

.

"Stop being so stubborn will yah and listen to me, there has to be a way to bring back the well, I'm sure you'll find it," his ears twitched and then smirked at the approaching footsteps. 

.

"Keh, Yeah I know I'm weak and pathetic, but I'm dying now do you have to criticize me till my last breath?" Kagome peered up at the tall figure which hovered above them. 

.

"Something you need lord Sesshomaru?"

.

"Hand over Tessaiga," 

.

"Keh, no I've given it to Kagome plus you can't even wield it." Inuyasha snickered as he spat more blood out. 

.

"Then I shall take it from her cold dead hands, once again I ask, hand over tessaiga."  Sesshomaru let out a slight growl.

.

 "If you kill Kagome, tessaiga will never be yours," Both Kagomes and Sesshomarus brows arched as they looked at the hanyou.

.

"Explain halfbreed," the taiyoukai hissed as Inuyasha smirked. "Well you see Kagomes the only one who is strong enough to remove the barrier on the sword, but she won't not unless you fulfill my deathwish." 

.

Sesshomaru let out a roar as he fell on one knee and grabbed Inuyashas collar, pulling him up to face level then snarled."What makes you believe that this Sesshomaru will do anything you say?!" Inuyasha winced through clenched fangs then continued to smirk. 

.

"Because we all know how much you want our fathers sword." the tai let out another frustrating snarl as he threw him back down and stood again, turning away. 

.

Could Kagome truly be the only one to remove the barrier on the sword? Was there not someone else perhaps a wizard or witch out there. Sesshomaru let out a sigh, what exactly did the hanyou want. "What is your request?"

.

Kagome glanced at the hanyou in confusion, who merely winked at her. She didn't know how to remove the barrier? did she?

.

"Help Kagome recover the well so she may return to her own world." Sesshomaru turned and narrowed his eyes at his half brother. "I want you to protect her until she can return home somehow.." 

.

The tall inuyoukai growled, great he had to protect his half breed brothers wench. Shutting his molten gold eyes he sighed again. The sooner he was done with this, the sooner he would have the mighty sword. "This Sesshomaru accepts these terms." 

.

 Inuyasha pulled a surprised Kagome above his face. "He'll keep his word, he's the most powerful demon out there don't worry okay, I just want to say I'm sorry for everything I've done, I've hurt you so much Kagome..." her heart cringed at his words as more tears streamed down her cheeks. "I love you Kagome, I'm sorry I can't be here for you..." Pulling her closer, he pressed his lips to hers, startling her completely. 

.

He did love her? 

.

Slowly he shut his eyes as his head fell back along with his arms. Kagomes eyes widened. 

.

"No, No...NO!" she nudged him gently, but he wouldn't move. She then began to shake him harder, this couldn't be true, he couldn't be dead, he couldn't just leave her like that. Tears spilled from her now puffy eyes. "Inuyasha!"

.

Sesshomaru watched with a frown. He did despise his brother because he was a halfbreed but he had proved himself to be a worthy opponent every encounter. His eyes now travelled to the woman crying her heart out atop of him and felt irritated, he would be stuck traveling with her.

.

"Mew!" a soft cry interrupted them. Both pairs of eyes glanced over towards Kiala in her small form nudging Shippou in the tummy. Sesshomaru walked over to the kit, ignoring Kialas growl and watched as Tensaiga pulsed. He couldn't bring back anyone but the Kit, it was too late for the others. Pulling out the old sword he swiped, watching the kit glow for a moment then whimper. Kiala purred as Shippou slightly opened his eyes. 

.

Kagome gasped as the kit got to his feet, rubbing his eyes. Sesshomaru slightly growled as he looked at Rins bloody broken body and back at the kit. He had been able to bring back the kit but not his little girl. Shippou glanced up at the mighty lord and fell back in fear onto Rin. As he turned he jumped again as emotions overwhelmed him. "Rin ! Oh no Lord Sesshomaru please save Rin I tried to protect her I really did!" The young fox kit pleaded as he tried to shake his friend awake as if she were sleeping. Sesshomarus brows furrowed at the kits words and bent over picking up the small girl with his only arm. 

.

"Mi lord!" A wounded Jaken ran towards his lord with Ah Un trailing behind. Sesshomaru turned and placed the child on his stead's saddle. His face remained the same yet a hint of saddness could be seen in his eyes. Jaken frowned as Ah Un whimpered at the sight of Rin. Even Jaken who despised humans had grown fond of the child through their travels. The tai then walked over to Inuyashas fallen form, pulling him over his shoulder. He didn't like him yes, but he still carried their fathers blood and deserved a proper burial. Kagome watched in silent crys. She felt as though her heart had been torn right out of her body. Shippou helped pull Sango and Miroku over Kiala then ran to Kagome. His eyes full of water yet he kept them in, he had to be strong for Kagome.

"Come Kagome we got to go with Sesshomaru!" Shippou tugged her arm yet Kagome remained in silence.
