The Dark Forest

It was a dark and eerie forest, moss crowded on the trees like deadly layers that sucked up every drop of moisture. There, far in the distance beyond the shadows was a soft light. Walking closer, one would be able to see that the glow came from a campfire. It was the forest’s only source of light. Bright and warm.

A sleeping girl huddled by the fire in soft white furs as she tried to keep away the chill of the night. Not far away, a little green imp sat leaning on a two headed dragon. 

“Please... Lord Sesshoumaru... come back.”  The little girl muttered in her sleep.

The rustle of the wind; warm golden eyes turned to lie upon the child. A gentle clawed hand reached out to pull another fur cover over the girl.

“Rin”

Small chilled hands grabbed onto the larger one. Tired eyes looked up, with a bright smile. “Lord Sesshoumaru you are back!”

With a yawn, the child snuggled into her protector, squirming into his lap, searching his warmth.  

A light rumbling purr vibrated across the clearing, and the sound immediately calmed all the occupants in the clearing, the little girl, the imp, the dragon.

He was back. Their alpha was back.
