The Dare

A/N:  I have always wanted to write a story that starts off with a dare... so here it is! This story occurs post-Naraku.

        This is a response to Kirai's Neverending Title Challenge

Chapter 1: The Dare

Inuyasha’s pack had already defeated Naraku, and they had successfully completed their quest to gather all the jewel shards and make a wish. Kagome had wished for their group to find happiness. Because of that, the well had been permanently opened for her. Unfortunately, they were quickly becoming bored now that their quest was completed. So on a warm spring afternoon, they were all sitting by the campfire when Shippou decided to break the silence.

“Hey Kagome, I dare you to sit Inuyasha.” Shippou said.

“Shippou, you know you shouldn’t be so mean to Inuyasha. He didn’t do anything wrong. So why would I sit him?” Kagome replied.

BOOM ...crash

“KAGOME! What was that for!?!?!?” Inuyasha whined.

The rest of the group laughed.

“Sorry Yasha. I didn’t mean to do that,” she said turning slightly red.

Shaking her head, Kagome retorted, “Shippou I dare you to shape-shift into a girl and walk beside Miroku in that form all day.”

Shippou’s face turned ashen.

“Fine I will, but only if you can make someone in our pack dance. Oh and I get to choose the person.” Shippou retorted.

“Done!” Kagome replied without a thought.

“And the person I choose is Sesshoumaru!” Shippou laughed outright at his own comment.  

This time, Kagome turned pale, and the whole clearing grew silent. Everyone held their breath waiting for Kagome’s response.

“But Sesshoumaru is not in our pack.” Kagome said softly.

“You are wrong there! Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha are related, so they are in the same pack. We are in Inubaka’s pack so technically speaking we are all in the same pack. Sesshoumaru is actually the alpha male of both packs which is why he comes over to check up on us every so often, and make sure his half-brother’s skills are up to par. Ha Ha you can’t get out of it Kagome.” Shippou said with a smirk.   

“Fine, but everyone here had better help me.” She quickly replied.

She was met with silence.

“What? So now everyone is abandoning me??? This is not fair. I thought we were friends.” Kagome said, slightly hurt.

Still no one stepped up to offer her help.

“Sango, you said yourself you would owe me a favour for helping out your brother. Inuyasha, we promised each other that we would always stick together and help each other out, and because yesterday I brought a whole box of ramen just for you. Miroku, you said that you would return me a favour for helping you and Sango get together. And Shippou, you are the one who put me through this dare, and if you don’t help me out, I will never bring you candy every again. Last of all Kirara... you will also help me too won’t you?” she replied in a sickly sweet voice.

The silence in the campsite increased tenfold.

Sango was the first to break the silence. “Sure Kagome” she said in a quavering voice. The others just nodded with jagged unwilling jerks to their head.

“Shippou you dumb kid, now look what you just got us into. If we ever make that icicle dance, we will never live to see another day.” Inuyasha growled, giving Shippou a noogie.

“Ow, ow, ow” Shippou screamed. “I didn’t think that she would actually say yes, and drag us into it.” He yelled as Inuyasha just grinded his fist with Shippou’s head harder.
