Grip the Reigns

Hello all Caleesci here. Just a little oneshot for your enjoyment :)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Kagome had seen Sesshomaru many times during her time traveling days, and while she had always thought him to be exceedingly handsome, she had never truly thought of him beyond that point. He had always been to perfect, too beautiful to even be considered manly. When he fought, it was so fast and fluid that it seemed to be rehearsed and expected. Despite the fact that his strength was admirable, and one had to admit he was the strongest in the land, it had never really caught her attention. That was until they encountered Sesshomaru and a dragon.

They had felt the aura of the two battling youkai, and against their leader’s wishes they had gone to investigate. As the trees parted to a clearing, the sight that greeted her would forever be burned into her memory. Standing at the center of the field was a dragon well over three times the size of Ah Un. Its scales were like obsidian blades, shimmering beautifully in the sun. It had massive wings that were spread across the area, casting shade beneath their wide expanse. Trees around them had caught fire from its breath and the ground had been torn asunder by the sharp claws and wicked tail. It was glaring at his foe with chilling silver eyes. A few hundred paces from the dragon stood Sesshomaru. As her eyes landed on the daiyoukai, Kagome could hardly stifle her gasp. The wind was whipping his hair about his body, giving him a wild appearance. The flames from the trees cast its fiery glow, outlining his pale form in radiant beauty. His eyes were alive with heat of the challenge and a tantalizing smirk danced over his features. The clothing covering his torso had been shed, leaving his chiseled torso bared to her view. She had always assumed him to be a man of exquisite shape, the muscular packed body he kept selfishly hidden beneath his silken clothing had not been what she had expected. Perhaps she had assumed he would have the young adolescent body of Inuyasha, lean and toned instead of defined and rigid.

Kagome’s eyes trailed down to the dark colored pants that seemed to be made of a thicker hide. They dipped low upon his waist, accentuating the slight trail of silvery white hair that descended down past her view. At that point, she found the air had suddenly grown warm and stifling. Her eyes then trailed to the unusual looking rope within his hands. It appeared to be a darker leather, yet she could feel the flow of his youki entwined within it that made it seem all the more dangerous. In all, he was a vision of darker fantasies manifested before her eager eyes.

Her appraisal of his form was cut short as the dragon reared its head, a column of fire reaching into the sky. It turned its massive, onyx colored head and charged at the one who thought to surpass it. Sesshomaru leapt gracefully from the path of claws, his hair flying madly about him. As his feet touched the ground, he crouched low, one knee bent while the other positioned straight out beside him. One hand was touching the ground and the other grasping the rope like a whip. His hair fell in front of him, but Kagome could clearly see the gilded orbs shining through the mess of silver strands. That was when time seemed to slow. Sesshomaru moved forward, his body glistening with perspiration from the heat of the fire breathing reptile. He lifted his hand that grasped the rope and flung it forward. The rope struck the dragon on the snout where it wound itself around and clamped it shut. With a mighty pull, using the robe as a means of momentum, Sesshomaru flung himself onto the back of the dragon, settling between the powerful wings. Reaching forward he grasped the other end of the rope, and used his poison to melt the leather together, creating a bridle of sorts. He pulled the two ends and used them as reigns. His powerful thighs clamped around the shoulders of the thrashing dragon to keep himself steady. Pulling on his crafted reigns, the dragon reared up its head with a muffled roar as it could not open its mouth. Beating its powerful wings the dragon took to the sky, attempting to dislodge the daiyoukai on its back. Snapping the reigns and using the youki stored within the rope’s confines he unleashed his youki upon the dragon. He heard its roar of pain and it fell back against the ground, its body growing tired from the overwhelming youki. The mighty beast stilled; its heavy breaths slowing as it calmed.

Sesshomaru sat atop the mighty beast, his muscles tight and flexed as he held the reigns firmly. The sight left Kagome breathless. His back was arched and his hips thrust forward as he leaned back to keep the reigns taught. His hair was disheveled in a handsome way covering his face and body. The darkness of the hide-crafted pants contrasting against the glistening pale of his skin. Kagome was instantly reminded of a dashing cowboy breaking a horse like she had seen in the American Westerns.

“Keh, show off.” Inuyasha muttered, not failing to catch awe in the scent of the females beside him.

“Is he… is he taming the dragon?” Kagome asked in a breathy whisper.  Inuyasha nodded begrudgingly.  Kagome gulped thickly, her hands coming to clasp just above her heart. She watched as Sesshomaru leaned down, his hand coming to rest upon the brow of the dragon.

“You are mine.” Sesshomaru declared to the beast beneath him. The silver eyes of the dragon seemed to burn brighter as it lowered its head in submission.

Kagome watch in rapt fascination, her body tingling in an unknown way at the sight she had just witnessed. Sesshomaru turned to look at her then. The heat within those golden eyes filled her, and Kagome felt her knees weaken. There was a sense of victory in his gaze, yet his gaze was directed solely at her. She saw his lips curl back into a feral grin, and a rush of excitement swept through her. Kagome had never felt so alive despite the fact that her body felt like it was a burning inferno. Even the wind from the dragon’s wings as it took to the air with its new master did nothing to cool her heated body. Instead, it only left Kagome breathless once more.
