One minute he was asleep, cradling his sleeping mate in his lap, and the next Sesshomaru found himself facing some kind of diminutive woman in a place that wasn’t anywhere close to where they had stopped for the night. From what he saw at his quick glance around the small clearing they were in, he deduced that it was the ‘modern age’ like Kagome’s time. But nothing he saw, like the signs with the weird language, pointed to them being in Japan.
When the woman, he could tell by her scent she was no true human and the skin she was in wasn’t hers, began to speak, he shoved the now stammering Kagome behind him and drew Bakusaiga. Narrowing his eyes, he listened to the onna yammer on and on about how she needed the help of the most powerful youkai she could find. That was him apparently. Though his ego was stroked at the thought that he was the most powerful youkai in the world, he didn’t like how she was going on about how he would serve her and become her most favored monster. Monster? He was no monster! He was Lord Sesshomaru, the most powerful youkai to ever walk! By this point, he had even surpassed his sire in power. There was no way that he was about to serve some idiotic being with delusions of grandeur. Then, when she got to the point of him kneeling before her, he was done.
“This Sesshomaru kneels before no one!” He snarled. Ensuring his little mate was safe behind him, he used his inhuman speed to attack whoever this was. One strike with Bakusaiga was all it took. With a scream of pain, she immediately disintegrated into nothing but a pile of ash that began to blow away on the breeze.
Sticking his nose in the air with a pleased smirk on his face, he gave a sniff then turned to his mate, “Miko, we need to find out where we are so that we can get back. Naraku will only take advantage of our absence.”
Nodding, Kagome swallowed thickly and looked around, hand on Sesshomaru’s forearm, clinging to him. Narrowing her eyes, reading the signs she could see off in the distance, she then licked her lips nervously, shaking her head.
Putting his other hand over hers after he sheathed the katana, he gave it a reassuring squeeze while looking around. The smells were nothing familiar to him nor was the writing he could see. “Do you have any idea where we might be, aside from a different time?”
Swallowing, she shook her head. “I’m not really sure but I might have an idea…” she trailed off.
Though not liking this or the feeling he was getting from her, he asked, trying to keep a weary sigh out of his voice, “Where do you think we are?”
“Well, from the look of things, I think that we’re in the same year I’m from. That’s the good news,” she started, still looking around to verify that by finding a bank clock with the time and date on it but saw nothing.
Nodding, taking what he could get as good news, Sesshomaru then asked, “Where do you think we are?” Scanning around, he looked for any signs of danger but found nothing, just the aura of some humans, nothing that he couldn’t handle if they decided to try something foolish.
“I think, from the look of things, we are somewhere in America,” she said, slumping. “Oh, this isn’t good!”
A slightly confused look passing over his stoic visage, Sesshomaru glanced down at her, “America? What is America?”
“It’s another country, across the sea from Japan. And if that’s where we are, we are in real trouble! ‘Cause I don’t know any way to get home short of taking an airplane,” she sighed.
As the miko had told him what airplanes were like and their propensity for crashing, he glowered at her then hissed, “This Sesshomaru is not getting on an airplane, miko! You will have to find us another way to get home!”
“I know that!” Kagome snapped at him, shooting him a glare and stomping her foot. “Right now, even that isn’t an option! We don’t have the money to buy the plane ticket to start with let alone have things like a passport and ID to even get on the thing!”
“Then what do you suggest we do, miko?” The daiyoukai sneered, glowering at her.
“Well…” Kagome started then trailed off, looking around, wringing her hands, “I don’t know!” She finally wailed, stomping her foot again.
Sensing that his miko was quite upset and tears might be imminent, Sesshomaru gave an internal sigh and put an arm around her to offer comfort. “Hush, Kagome. Calm down. Hysterics won’t help the situation.”
Nodding, blinking back the tears that were trying to form, she leaned on Sesshomaru and sighed. Honestly, this was scarier than being dropped in the Feudal Era the first time. Sighing, trying to get herself under control she said, “I think the first thing we should do is try to find a phone. If I can get hold of mom maybe she can help. I don’t know if she can but it’s worth a shot!”
Thinking that sounded like the only viable thing they had at this moment, Sesshomaru put a hand on the small of her back while he lead them, feeling quite trepidatious, towards the town that was close by. If this were the Feudal Era, he would have no issue, being able to handle anything that was thrown at them. But since this was the ‘modern times’ he was out of his element. He had seen before, on the television thing while they were in Kagome’s time, the manner of weapons that were available to beings. Though he all but drooled at the thought of some of them, he understood that hand to hand combat wasn’t something engaged in much. That left him at a distinct disadvantage. Sure, he was certain that he would survive whatever was thrown at them, if it came to a fight, but he didn’t want to have to engage in such a battle. This was a nightmare and he didn’t like it, at all.

As they approached the outskirts of the small town, Sesshomaru stopped, eyes narrowing. He could hear some beings, humans from the smell of them, approaching. Shoving Kagome behind him, he drew his katana and waiting. With the strangeness of the situation that they were in, he wasn’t all that sure that they would find any kind of friendly being out here.
Scanning around, ignoring the miko’s questions, he waited for them to show themselves.

After getting caught in a bramble bush, Dean was cursing. “Great, just freakin’ great! This was my favorite shirt!” He snarled as he looked at the hole that was now torn in his Metallica t-shirt.
“Dean, quiet!” Sam said, stopping and hoisting the shotgun full of salt rounds up. “I think I heard something.”
Glaring at his brother, Dean wanted to retort but said nothing, readying his weapon, shifting the duffle he was carrying into a more comfortable position. “Cas better be right. She better be out here,” he hissed in a whisper to Sam. “It’s the middle of the night in Podunk Ville and we are traipsing through the damn woods!”
Creeping forward, trying to be as quiet as he could, Sam whispered back, “He said she was here and brought something along, something powerful, but didn’t know what it was.”
About to retort by saying something not nice about Cas, Eve and anything else that came to mind, Dean heard a rustling sound. Stopping, he listened to where it was coming from to try to get a direction to go when he heard a soft, feminine voice that didn’t sound like it was saying anything in English. Getting Sam’s attention, he jerked his head in the direction he heard it.
Nodding, Sam followed him as quietly as he could, the shotgun ready if it was needed. However, if it was something the Mother of All had brought along, he wasn’t all that sure standard salt rounds would do any good against it.
Stepping into a clearing, Dean immediately raised his shotgun at the two beings that were standing there. The one was obviously a human girl, a bit on the short side but cute nonetheless, dressed in a Hello Kitty t-shirt and sleep pants with big, fuzzy, white dog foot slippers on. If the situation wasn’t a serious one, he would have no problems hitting on her, providing she wasn’t jailbait that is. The other, well, he wasn’t sure what that being was. Tall, long silver hair, dressed oddly with markings on his face, he was sure this was the creature that Eve had brought along.
Waiting for Sam to join him, he then barked out, “Alright, what are you! Where is the bitch?”
Eyebrow arched at the odd language that the being was speaking, Sesshomaru then glanced at the weapon he was carrying. A shotgun was something he knew about and didn’t like it. Immediately hoisting his katana higher, he glowered at the two ningen males then snapped, “If you wish to survive the night, I suggest you lower your weapon!”
Arching an eyebrow at the odd language, Dean glanced at Sam with a ‘what the hell’ look. Looking back at the two, he snarled, “Lower the blade, dude, or I empty the shotgun into you!”
Clutching tightly to Sesshomaru, hiding behind him, Kagome listened to what was being said, frowning. Though she struggled with her English classes, she knew the language when she heard it and thought that, maybe, she could do a bit of translating before this ended up in a full-out battle. Giving Sesshomaru’s sleeve a tug, she said, quietly, eyes locked on the two men with the weapons, “Hang on, Sesshomaru. Let me try to talk to them.”
Sparing the miko a glance, the daiyoukai then focused back on the aggressors that dared to challenge him. “They don’t speak Japanese, Kagome. You aren’t going to get through to them!”
“They are speaking English. I take it in school. Let me at least try, OK?” She asked softly, still gazing at the two with the guns.
Though unwilling to put his miko in any kind of danger, Sesshomaru thought that, maybe, it might be worth a shot to diffuse things until they could suss out what was going on and how to rectify the situation. “Go ahead. But the first sign of danger and we do it my way.” He told her gruffly, eyes never leaving the two beings with weapons.
Stepping in front of Sesshomaru nervously, holding her hands up to show she had no weapons, she said, softly, stumbling over the English slightly, “I’m Kagome and this is Sesshomaru. We’re not sure what’s going on or how we got here! We’re not even really sure where ‘here’ is so… We don’t mean you any harm.”
Listening to the young woman’s broken English with a heavy far eastern accent, Dean lowered his weapon slightly, glancing at Sam before focusing back on the big being behind her. “Where is Eve?” He asked bluntly.
Confused look on her face, Kagome shook her head, eyes darting to the gun then back at the man’s face, “Eve? I’m not sure who that is!”
Lowering his weapon, Sam took a step forward, keeping an eye on the being behind the girl. Those names rang a bell somewhere but he couldn’t quite place where it was from. Pushing that aside, he was going to try to work with this. He was better with the soft touch then Dean ever thought of being so he thought if he handled this, they might get more information. “She calls herself the Mother of All. She was around here earlier, that’s why we’re here.”
Eyes widening, Kagome nodded vigorously then quickly translated what was said to Sesshomaru before turning back to the soft spoken man. “She’s the one that brought us here!”
Glancing to Dean, who was now ready, from what his body language was saying, to go kick some evil ass. Putting a hand out to calm his brother, he then turned back to this Kagome and asked, “Where is she? Do you know?”
“Um… she’s dead. Sesshomaru, killed her,” she told him then went to translate what was said to Sesshomaru.
“What? How? We haven’t found a way to kill the bitch yet!” Dean sputtered, glancing from Sam to the odd pair across from them.
Shrugging, Kagome said, “His katana, Bakusaiga, it can kill about anything.”
After the miko translated, Sesshomaru looked smug, lifting his nose in the air and looking at the two ningen males, proud.
Nodding, Sam smiled at the girl, she was obviously upset about what was going on, then asked, softly, “Can you show us where she is? Her body, I mean? That way we can make sure she’s really gone.”
After quickly telling Sesshomaru what was said she turned back to them, “We can show you but there is no body. It’s just a pile of ash is all.”
“That’s fine, we need to make sure. Sometimes these things come back and need to be ganked again,” Dean told her then glanced at Sam.
“Uh… ganked?” Kagome asked, confused, looking between the two.
“He means killed,” Sam explained, smiling at the poor girl. “You two go ahead and lead the way but tell your friend…” he said glancing at the big male, “to keep his sword out just in case.”
“He’s my mate,” Kagome said with a smile but continued, “I’ll tell him though.”
After a quick translation to Sesshomaru, he nodded then slipped his arm around the miko, nodding to the two ningen to follow then made his way back from where they came.
After covering the short distance, Kagome stopped by what was left of the ash, gesturing to it, then saying, “This is her. Well, what’s left of her after Sesshomaru got done.”
Looking at the pile of ash, Sam and Dean then looked at each other then to the odd couple.
Chuckling a bit nervously, Sam rubbed the back of his neck then said, “I guess he did get her, didn’t he?”
Nodding, Dean eyed the big male warily then said, “Well, we better get what’s left of the ash and scatter it.” Kneeling down, dropping the duffle, he pulled out a container to gather it up.
Turning back to the two, Sam asked, softly, “What happened, do you know? Where were you when she grabbed you?”
“We were asleep actually, in Japan. We came to here with her saying something about wanting Sesshomaru because of his power,” Kagome explained, glancing at the big daiyoukai as she did.
Glancing between the two, Sam nodded. “Wow, that must have been something!” Letting his eyes slide to the male, he was wary of him now. If Eve had wanted him that meant he wasn’t human. “So, are you human? I mean, Eve was after monsters. I can’t see her grabbing a human for something.”
Frowning slightly, Kagome translated monster the best she could. That had several meanings in Japanese, including youkai. Slightly confused as she told Sesshomaru what was said, she was startled when he growled angrily.
“This Sesshomaru is no monster!” He snarled at the male talking to his mate, eyes flashing.
Eyes widening, Sam held out his hands in a placating manner, not sure what was said but the tone was enough to set him on edge, “Woah! Wait a second! I didn’t mean to offend you!”
Quickly, Dean finished gathering the ashes then stood up to join Sam in case this went further south. He didn’t like the tone the strange being was using.
Holding onto Sesshomaru, Kagome quickly said, “Hang on! That word doesn’t translate well, Sesshomaru! Let’s not fly off the handle. My English is not the best so let me work with it!”
Glaring, baring his fangs at the two ningen, Sesshomaru then stroked the miko’s head to calm her. “I will let you attempt it, Kagome. But you had better clarify that this Sesshomaru is no monster!”
Nodding vigorously, she replied, “I will, trust me!” Turning back to them, she explained to the soft spoken one, “Sesshomaru is a youkai. There is no real…” stopping, she tried to figure out a way to phrase it then continued on, “accurate translation for that term into English. Well, not one I know of anyway. My English isn’t the best.” She told him with a shrug, looking at him, hoping he got what she was trying to say.
Having roomed his first year at Stanford with an anime/manga nut, Sam nodded. When Dean nudged him and gave him that look that said he needed to explain, Sam said, “It’s a race of beings out of Japan, usually in historical context. There is no real accurate translation of the word into English. Usually they use demon or monster,” seeing Dean’s eyebrows shoot up at the word demon, he hastily added, “But those aren’t accurate, Dean. It’s just as close as they can get in English is all. It’s more like, demi-gods, nothing to worry about really.”
Listening to what was said, Kagome nodded, “That’s right! They aren’t evil as a rule! Some are, yeah, but not all. Sesshomaru sure isn’t!”
Smiling at the poor girl, Sam asked, “You’re human, right?”
“Yeah, I’m a miko,” Kagome said with a nod hoping that the term miko would dissuade him from thinking Sesshomaru was evil.
“Miko? What’s a miko?” Dean asked, puzzled, looking from the girl back to Sam. He didn’t like this situation, not at all, and was on edge. It was so far beyond strange that he couldn’t quite fathom what was going on. Nor did it help that the chick’s English wasn’t the greatest and she was using terms that he didn’t remotely understand.
“A miko is a holy person, like a priestess in the religion in Japan. They aren’t evil. I guess the equivalent over here would be like a nun or preacher. They are supposed to have things like purifying powers.” Sam explained, giving the poor girl a look that told her he was sorry if he messed up the explanation.
“Gotcha, not one of the bad guys,” Dean said with a nod. Chuckling, he added, “We could use those powers from time to time actually.” Eyeing Sam, he then asked, “And just how to you know this, geek boy?”
“My first college roommate was into anime and manga so I picked up the terms from him,” Sam explained.
Nodding, as though he understood, Dean then asked, “Just what the hell is anime and manga?”
Quickly, Sam gave a rundown of the genre in simple terms that his brother could understand.
Grinning, Dean then said, “Ah, like hentai! Why didn’t you just say that?” Hentai he knew from looking up porn on the web.
Chuckling, Sam shook his head, “Only you, Dean… Yeah, like that.”
Kagome was talking quietly to Sesshomaru, making sure he stayed calm until the word hentai was mentioned. Snarling, the daiyoukai glared at the male that said it then said in short, clipped tones, “You will not lay one finger on Kagome or I will remove your hand!”
Pushing back on the daiyoukai to keep him away, Kagome sputtered, “No, Sesshomaru! He doesn’t mean it like that! It’s like the dirty comics I showed you! They call those hentai!”
Eyes wide, Sam and Dean watched the angry creature the girl was trying to calm down. Nudging Sam, Dean asked, “What the hell, dude? What did I say?”
“I think one of the words means something different in Japanese but I’m not sure,” Sam answered, watching the two closely.
Holding the miko closely and nuzzling her head to show she belong to him, Sesshomaru glared at the two to make sure they knew the miko was his.
Looking back over her shoulder at the two men, Kagome gave a weak smile, “Hentai is the problem. It means pervert. He thought you were going to try to hit on me or something.”
Nodding, Sam glanced at Dean then turned back to her, “Why don’t we do this… come back to our hotel and we’ll see if we can’t sort this out. If you were just dropped here with no way to get back, we need to work something out and see if we can’t get you some help, alright?”
After running what the man said by Sesshomaru, who agreed, though reluctantly, she turned and said, “That’s fine. We can do that.”
Picking the miko up, keeping a wary eye on the two ningen, Sesshomaru followed them, not liking what was going on.

An hour later, the quartet were in Sam and Dean’s room, trying to figure out just what was going on.
First, the brothers introduced themselves and explained what they did then Sam, gently, walked Kagome through what had happened.
From Kagome’s end, that wasn’t easy. First, the brother’s names sounded very familiar to her but she couldn’t quite place where she heard them. Instead, she focused on what had happened. To truly explain what was going on, she had to go through the whole mess about time traveling wells, hanyou, youkai, Naraku and everything else, sure the two brothers would think she had lost her mind and not believe a word she said.
Listening to her, Sam was rubbing a finger across his chin. All of this was sounding very familiar to him. While Dean continued to question the two, he booted up his laptop and began searching. Quickly, he found what he was looking for. Grinning he said, “I knew your story sounded familiar, Kagome! It’s a manga and anime called Inuyasha!”
Looking at him, stunned, Kagome stammered out a, “What? Manga and anime? It’s no manga and anime!”
Pushing the computer over to her, he showed her the article he had found on the thing. “It’s right there. My roommate in college used to watch it.”
Reading over the article, Kagome was stunned, eyes wide. Looking down at the clock in the corner of the screen, her mouth went dry when she looked at the date. Looking first at Sesshomaru, explaining what the problem was, she then looked back at Sam and asked, softly, “Is the date on the computer right?”
Nodding, Sam smiled then said, “Yeah, it’s accurate.”
Sighing, Kagome rubbed her eyes then said, tone weary, “Oh, Kami, this isn’t good! You’re more than a decade ahead of my time.”
Eyes widening, Sam looked at Dean, not sure what to do now. This not only involved the past but the future as well. There was no way that they could let the two out on their own.
Scrubbing one hand through his hair in agitation, Dean sighed. Looking at the chick, he said, “I think we need Cas to get involved to put this mess to right. There is no way we can handle this one.”
Nodding, Sam replied, “I agree. It’s going to take his mojo to fix this.”
Looking around, Dean began to call for the angel.

Sesshomaru was about as relaxed as he could get, considering the circumstances. Things were a bit more settled for him now that he had the gist of what was going on. While ignoring the brothers and talking to Kagome, he was perusing the website that had the scans of the manga on it in Japanese, snorting in amusement as he read through them. As if his miko would lower herself to end up with the whelp, Inuyasha. That was laughable! Nor was the thing accurate in other ways, such as his exploits being attributed to the boy. Someone had taken some serious steps to change the story.
While showing some of it to his miko, there was a fluttering sound behind him. Instinctually, Sesshomaru was on his feet, sword drawn, tip of the blade pressed to the Adam’s apple of the being that had just appeared behind him. Snarling, eyes flashing slightly red, he waited for the strange being, another that wasn’t ningen but wearing the body of one, to make a move.
Immediately, Kagome was on her feet, looking from her mate to Sam and Dean, waiting to see what was going on, tense and wringing her hands.
Standing up, hands out in a placating manner, Sam soothed, “It’s alright. Tell Sesshomaru he’s here to help us. He’s an angel and I think he’s the only one that can get you two back where you belong.”
Nodding, Kagome quickly went to work explaining to her mate what was going on, trying to get him to lower the katana. Once she did, she got him to back away.
Looking around, the stunned Castiel’s eyes lit on the daiyoukai, widening slightly as he took in the old outfit. Looking at Dean, he asked in his normal deadpan, “What is going on?”
Chuckling, Dean shook his head then said, “You might want to sit down for this one, Cas! It’s going to take some serious explaining.”
“Did you find Eve,” Castiel asked, eyes darting to the two other beings in the room.
“No, we didn’t but she is ganked.” Pointing to Sesshomaru, he said, “She thought she would recruit him and he took her out.”
“That is good then,” Cas replied, glancing at the two, listening to what they were saying. Though they were conversing in Japanese, he was able to understand them. Nodding to Dean, he then stepped over to the two and began to ask questions in Japanese.
Though wary of the newcomer, sensing some serious powers coming from him, Sesshomaru was relieved to actually be able to understand someone in the room besides Kagome. Because of that, he quickly explained what he knew of the situation.
Frowning, Cas nodded at what was being said, quickly sussing out the situation and what to do about it. After explaining his plan to the miko and daiyoukai, he turned to Sam and Dean then stated, “I’ll return in a few minutes, I’ll be returning these two to where they belong.”
Scooping up his mate, holding her to his chest, Sesshomaru nodded to the two males that found them then waited.
Looking over at Sam and Dean, Kagome smiled at them and waved, “Thanks for your help, it was greatly appreciated! If you ever get to Tokyo, stop by and say hi!”
Right after she finished, Cas put his hand on Sesshomaru’s arm and the trio vanished.
Waving goodbye, Sam and Dean watched them vanish.
Shaking his head, chuckling, Dean said, looking at the place the three had stood, “Well, just when we thought things couldn’t get any weirder!”
Sam chuckled then said, scrolling through a website that explained the Inuyasha manga, “Those two probably had a helluva shock! From what this says, Kagome ended up with Sesshomaru’s brother, Inuyasha, in the end of things. That her and him were the couple.” Frowning slightly, he added, tone slightly distracted, “Sesshomaru was one of the bad guys actually. It’s really weird.”
Looking over at the screen, Dean chuckled and shook his head, “Can’t be any worse than that smut they write about us that we’ve found!”
Laughing, Sam pulled up another page then said, “Dude, they have more smut written about them, in all kinds of pairings, than we do! Trust me!”
Shaking his head, taking a sip of his beer, Dean then asked, thoughtfully, “You said there is a show about them?”
“Yeah, there is a whole series about them. It’s complete and out on DVD. Why?” Sam asked, curious.
“Well, what do you say we find it? It could be amusing to watch!”
Laughing, Sam shook his head, “Sure, dude, whatever.”
