A week after Sesshomaru asked Kagome to stay she started hanging out more and more with him in his office. Sometimes she’d just sit there quietly, others she’d type away at a computer, and other’s she’d have a book from his personal library. Today she was sitting with a book in her lap, opened to the last page she’d been on. However instead of reading the book she was staring off into space.

Curious as to what she was thinking about he laid down the document that was awaiting his approval to start construction on a hotel he was financing in. “What are you thinking about Kagome?”

Kagome blinked once before turning and giving Sesshomaru a smile. “Nothing really, just this card I got in the mail the other day from home.”

“Hn. What did it say that has you distracted?”

“Well it seems that Inuyasha and Kikyo are getting married. I’m invited to help plan the wedding. It appears that hurting me by cheating on my sister with me, they want me to be the maid-of-honor.”

Sesshomaru couldn’t help the growl that escaped from him. “I will not allow it.”

“Not allow it?”

“No! You became pack to this Sesshomaru the moment you entered my life. I will not allow you to be emotionally hurt again because of their stupidity.” Lessening the tone in his voice, and letting his emotions run through, “You mean too much to me for you to be hurt by them again, Kagome, I’m not sure what it is, but I think I love you.”

The book that sat in Kagome’s lap dropped to the floor as she rushed to Sesshomaru and hugged him with all she was worth. Sesshomaru brought her chin up and as his lips met hers, he couldn’t think of any other place he wanted to be.
