Masks

Prompt: Masks

Word Count: 349

When the meal was over, Kagome saw Sesshomaru get up to leave. Not wanting to be alone at the moment, she reached out her hand and grabbed his hand. He turned around, the cold and collected mask on his face. “Wait, I don’t want to be alone.”

Sesshomaru felt his mask wanting to break, looking at the mess his brother left someone so precious in. He felt blind rage at his brother and wanted to go throttle him for doing something so low to her.

“Come,” was the only word he told her, leading her out of the café, letting her hand remain in his for as long as she wanted. When they reached his car he opened the door for her and let her in. Walking around to the driver’s side he took off, calling the office having them cancel his appointments for the rest of the day.

“We’ll stop to pick up Rin from school,” Sesshomaru said.

After picking Rin up, he continued driving, searching for the perfect spot. Then he found the place where he met the orphaned Rin, and the lovely Kagome. Pulling into a spot he let both of them out of the car.

He found a bench and sat back letting Rin and Kagome chase each other around the park. A small hint of a smile finally cracked across his face. Seeing his little girl playing happily and putting a smile back on Kagome’s face was something to be happy about.

That reminded him. Pulling his phone out of the pocket, Sesshomaru dialed a number he never thought he would dial.

“What do you want,” growled a voice on the other end. “I’m busy at the moment.”

“You are to pack Kagome’s things and have them delivered to my house within the hour.”

“The hell I am. Where is she?”

“Her things to my house in an hour, or I’ll buy her a new wardrobe.” With that he closed the phone. He decided then and there, he would do anything for Rin and Kagome. And with that the mask broke a bit more.
