As Sesshomaru finished his pacing he realized he had come to his decision. He was not ready to move up the date, and he would let Kagome know so. If she didn’t accept that then they needed some distance apart. He knew she was spending time with Kikyo so he decided to go and get her.
As he walked down the hallway a small part of him was warning him that this was going to be a bad idea and nothing but trouble would come from this conclusion. He knocked on the door before opening it and seeing Kagome sitting there asked to see her for a few minutes.
As Kagome walked out into the hallway, she smiled up at Sesshomaru as she pulled the door closed behind her. Sesshomaru led her down the hallway to a near-by sitting room before turning to talk to her.
“Kagome, I have thought of your proposal to move up the wedding date, and I feel that we’re not quite prepared to make that commitment fully and I feel moving it up will harm us.”
Kagome froze as she heard his words, “Would they harm us or harm you Sesshomaru? I’m ready to be your wife and mate, but if you’re not ready to accept me tell me right now Sesshomaru!”
“No, I’m not ready to give up being a bachelor just yet, why are you pushing it?”
Tears bit into the back of Kagome’s eyes, but she refused to let them show.
“I guess I thought I was going to be marrying the man I love and the one of my dreams, but I was wrong. Don’t worry, I’ll pack my stuff and be gone shortly.”
With that Kagome took off the engagement ring he gave her and threw it on the ground at his feet and walked out of the door, leaving Sesshomaru standing there.
