Summary: AU. Kagome’s genius gets the best of her.
There were days when Kagome considered herself to be a genius. She wasn’t necessarily the brightest in her class growing up. In fact, her grades were considered mediocre, a point her husband brought up regularly when she thought she’d have one over him. But there were times when she knew there was no way he could outwit her, despite his super brain. Sesshoumaru had been the typical male that everybody had wanted: above-average intelligence, athletic, popular and out of this world looks and he was all hers.
But he also drove her up the wall regularly.
Revenge will be so sweet, she thought as she quickly fiddled with some duct tape and the sound box from the stuffed monkey he had won for her earlier in the year at a local fair. Pushing the drawer forward, she watched, satisfied as the sound box started screeching at her and the drawer bounced back. She was a genius.
“He’s coming, Kagome,” Sango, Sesshoumaru’s assistant called out from the door. Borrowing a pen from the drawer, she quickly scrawled a note to let him know that she had been by, that way he wouldn’t be suspicious when he found his drawer open, and was about to duck out when she heard his voice. Panicked, she glanced to the left, then to the right, finding his private washroom. Knowing him as she did, she knew he would smell her, but she was quick enough on her feet to think up an excuse if need be.
On the plus side she had a front row seat to see how her little prank would play out.
Standing behind the door, she opened it a crack and peered from the darkened room. Gold eyes glanced in her direction, subtly letting her know that he knew she was there. Chewing her lip, she remained silent as an unknown man followed him into the room.
Crap, she thought. Closing her eyes, she waited for the inevitable.
Revenge was not as sweet as she thought it would be when she heard the loud monkey screeching from his drawer. She tightened them as she heard it a second time. A murderous gaze fell upon her; she could feel its promised intentions toward her.
Oops!
A murmured ‘excuse me’ from her partner had her cringing as she heard his footsteps make their way to the washroom. Sesshoumaru was nothing if not immaculate. It would not strike anybody as odd if he left to go wash his hands. However, this did not bode well for her. Lights flipped on and she found herself pressed against the closed door, his hands at either side of her head, effectively trapping her there.
“April fool’s?’ she squeaked, knowing she didn’t fool him one bit.
“It’s July, Kagome,” he whispered. “Try again.”
Perhaps genius was too strong a word...
