Kagome pulled her car into the parking space that was reserved for her. She got out and slammed the door of her car shut before stalking towards the front door of the little office that housed her private investigator agency. She passed a little black car parked next to her and was relieved because that meant her partner was in. She needed someone to vent to and Sango would be perfect.

Kagome opened the door of the office but resisted slamming it after her.  She knew that the flimsy door would not take it well.

The room was on the small size, holding a desk that had a computer on it, a few chairs of all different designs, and some filing cabinets. There was one other room connected and a bathroom that never had warm water. A woman with long black hair pulled back in a high ponytail sat behind the desk typing away. She glanced over when she heard Kagome enter the room.

“Kagome! I didn’t think you would be back for a few hours yet. How did the job go?” A quick smile crossed her face. Kagome flopped down in a comfortable blue chair and pulled a lever to make a footrest come out. She figured she needed a rest before tackling her next assignment because she would need all the energy possible for the job.

“The job went fine. They sold me the gun and Miroku is passing on the information now.” Kagome leaned back and let out a sigh.

“I can’t believe someone would be so stupid to sell a gun to someone without a permit. I mean, you even wore your floozy outfit that should have made them even less likely to give you one.” Sango shook her head and went back to typing.

“Well, that idiot won’t be in business for long if Miroku has anything to say about it.” Kagome kicked off her shoes and rubbed her bare feet together. “I got another job from Miroku too.”

“Really? That’s great! Remind me to kiss Miroku later.”

“I just don’t understand how you can date a lawyer. Though he does put people in jail, he still has a different idea of justice than we do.” Kagome thought back to her old boyfriend Hojo. The relationship had ended badly when he had represented one of the criminals she had worked so hard to track down, one that was supposed to go to jail after killing his young daughter. They were still sort of friends, but she could not see herself getting back together with him.

“I just don’t bring work home with me like someone I know.” Sango sent Kagome a look but the other women already had her eyes closed. “So what’s the new case?”

“Beating Sesshomaru.” Kagome said before falling asleep. She missed Sango’s expression of horror.

Kagome woke up and let out a huge yawn before opening her eyes. A quick check of the windows showed her that the sun had already fallen and that she had slept for hours. Kagome sat up in the chair and put the footrest down before getting up. Sango was no longer sitting behind the desk but she had left the light on for her. Kagome figured she was now spending time with her lawyer, probably trying to get all the information she could about the assignment. Kagome knew that she should have explained before falling asleep but it was too late now. Now Kagome just had to do some research so that she had a chance of actually completing the job.

Kagome moved to the desk and sat behind it, facing the computer. The screensaver was on, stars flying at the screen, and a quick mouse wiggle had it going way. Now that the screensaver was gone, Kagome could see that Sango had left open a page on the internet. She smiled when she found that it was exactly what she was looking for.

“Sesshomaru, the Master of Disguise.” She read out loud before snorting and continuing to go over the page.

‘Sesshomaru is a thief with honor, and as such he always sends a notice to the owner of the item he will steal, to give them a fighting chance. While there is no correlation between the items he has reportedly stolen, there are many items stolen that are never reported. It is said that his good looks cause women to willingly part with anything and that he can use charm as a weapon against them. Sesshomaru has never been accurately described as he looks different for every heist.’

Kagome frowned at that. She would have to make it impossible for anyone to get to the jewel anyway, but it would have been nice to just find Sesshomaru so that he could not cause trouble.

‘Sesshomaru has never harmed anyone and it is believed that he is unarmed. Though he has no firearm, Sesshomaru is still included in the list of most dangerous criminals and most wanted. There is a reward on his head and for any information on him. Please call (???)???-???? if you know anything concerning this criminal.’

Kagome knew that she should probably call the number, but her client wanted to keep it private. Kagome sighed and got out of the chair to get her purse. She retrieved the file inside and flipped through it, wondering how much she was getting paid and if it was really worth it. There was supposed to be one check before she finished and one after if the jewel was not taken. When she found the check her eyes widened.

“Holy Smokes!” The check was for more money than she made in a month. A paper next to it said that the check for completion was more than double that. Kagome looked at the computer before nodding her head with a grin.

“I’m going to catch myself a thief.”
