Frozen in Time

Disclaimer: Do not own the Inuyasha Characters - they are the property of Rumiko Takashi - but I can surely dream about it!

A/N : After I finished writing The Next Time… I realize that I wasn’t really finished with the story and yet I couldn’t find the inspiration to write a 3,000,000 words chapter about what came next… So I decided to go with a collection of Drabbles/Oneshots written with prompts from DDN or any other challenge I might get involve with… ... And yes pairing will be changing to our beloved Duo... do not fret!

I hope you enjoy the ride!

The birds chirping, the smell of Sakura blossoms, and the faraway voice of someone calling her name, brought the young woman back to reality. “Kagome! … Kagome!” the voice called getting closer. Opening her eyes to the bluest sky she had ever laid eyes on, the young miko looked around her wondering where she was.

“There you are Sweetie!” her okaasan said, “I’ve been calling your name for the past 5 minutes. Supper will be ready in 10 minutes. You better come inside to wash.” Mrs. H said looking at the sleeping form was daughter. “Oh sweetheart, you really should rest at night. If you keep falling asleep everywhere like this you definitely will not make it through College!”

As her mother talk, Kagome start assessing what had happened to her and where she was. It took a few seconds for the teenager to realize that she hadn’t died and that she was back in the modern time, with her family. All sorts of emotions past through her as she looked at her mother’s loving, but worried, face. “Oh mama!” the young miko said throwing herself in her mother’s arms, as the memories of the deaths of her friends brought tears of sorrow and an immense feeling of regret. “Inuyasha… Inuyasha is dead!” the young woman sobbed.

Feeling her shoulder pushed away for her mother’s form, Kagome looked up at her mother’s face, who, surprisingly, was looking down at her with an angry look on her face.  “You got to stop stalking that boy.” Mrs H responded vehemently as she slightly shook her daughter by the shoulders as she spoke. Taken aback by her okaasan’s sudden reaction, Kagome’s tears subsided suddenly. “He already put a restraining order against you! What are you still doing around him!?” those words felt like a slap in the face and while receiving an unwanted cold shower.

A protective order? Against her? Inuyasha? WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON? Wait! Wasn’t he supposed to be dead ... like everyone else? Rectify that; wasn’t she supposed to be dead?

The older woman spoke as she started shaking her daughter again. “No! Don’t do this to me, Kagome! You hear me! You have to remember this time!” Frowning slightly at her okaasan’s words, she couldn’t quite grasp what was being said.

Looking around her as thoughts ran through the young woman’s mind, she tried desperately to place what was amiss in the picture of the Sunset Shrine. Everything was the same, as if frozen in a time... except this was not the modern time the young girl remembered. The frown on the miko’s face deepened as she looked down at her outfit and hands only to realize she wasn’t covered in blood as she remembered having been after the deadly battle with Naraku.  An image of the field where laid, dead, all her friends crossed her mind and as the image in her mind stopped at the destructed well, the young girl looked past Mrs. H’s shoulder and realized the missing puzzle piece: The Well House. It was gone.

Her eyes finally rested on her mother’s face as the older woman started talking again. “You have never been in the feudal time. Inuyasha is a boy that goes to school with you who is also going out with Kikyo, your step-sister. His older step-brother, Sesshomaru, is in University studying Business and is not a cold hearted jackass killer, as you so nicely put it many times before.” Her mother said giving Kagome a looked that meant what the older woman thought of her daughter’s lacking manners. The look was only the interlude of the speech. “Their adopted brother, Shippo, is not a kitsune and he will not call you Mama.” Again there was a pause; as if the older woman wanted to make sure she understood what was being said.  “Miroku and Sango are the married couple that holds the Midnight Sun Shrine and who also works with me and YES they have adopted Sango’s brother Kohaku after Sango’s parents died IN A PLANE CRASH, not a the hand of Kohaku that was possessed by Naraku – who is by the way the waiter at your favourite restaurant.” There again, a intermission was made with a well place look that spoke volumes on the stupidity of the idea that Kohaku could have killed his parents while being possessed but a waiter.  “Kohaku, Rin and Sota are friends and goes to school together. Kirara is our VERY NORMAL cat that you adopted to keep Buyo company after you went on an extended vacation to your father’s house... Who am I forgetting again?” The older maiden asked to herself more then to the young woman that was sitting in front of her flabbergast at the information that was being fed to her. “Ah, yes! “ Her mother finally said while rolling her eyes at her forgetfulness. “Jaken is Sesshomaru’s roommates. I will grant it, he does look like a toad and has the personality of a ...” her mother never finished her thought. “And Kouga... is not a wolf demon, does not run to hurricane speed and is not allowed in your bedroom, young woman... I will not tell you twice, hear me! The.Boy.Stays.Downstairs.! I don’t care if you have been dating from the past year or month, you know the house rules!”

Eyes wide, reality finally crashed on the young miko. Wait a second! She was dating Kouga. No! No! No! No! No! No! Shaking her head in a negative way, the younger maiden started feeling as if she was cornered in a very bizarre place. Putting her palms down on the ground, she pushed against it to get closer to the Goshinboku tree. “It’s not true! It can’t be true! I can’t be dating Kouga! I don’t even like him!” the young miko replied to her mother’s speech.

Feeling as if something was pushing against her rib cage, the young woman started hyperventilating as her world started falling off it axel and blackness invaded her eyesight.
