Not For You by Tiegrsi
Not For You
I find you tiresome.
You bore me with your inability to prove your worth.
Insolent child! Your attacks are sloppy; as our blades clash I see the flaws in your stance. I correct you again and again by brutally showing you the error of your placement.
Your mouth betrays your true nature. Vile, foul language spews forth contaminating the very space surrounding us as I once again correct your attack.
You exert too much energy when you fight poorly. You drain yourself too quickly and I once again emerge the victor. Will you ever learn?
And yet I return. Again and again I come to you, expecting each time to find improvement, and finding only that my previous efforts have been wasted as you repeat the same sloppy mistakes.
But I do not come for you. Do not think yourself so important, puppy.
There is only one creature for whom I would continue this ruse. One creature who's very essence calls to mine.
It is she who I have truly come for. Your foolish, brash aggressiveness does nothing but endanger her. Again I try to improve your stance by slicing your unprotected limbs. Do you not see?
Although I cannot fathom the reason, it is you who she has sworn loyalty to. You are the one who has chosen to protect her. How is it that you believe yourself worthy of her affection? You are nothing.
Her time with you is drawing to a close, whelp.
As I arrive yet again I see the fierceness of her defense waver. She knows, I am sure, that I could decimate you. She sees, I know, that again and again I walk away without ending you.
She is no longer concerned for the safety of her own protector. Is she so foolish, or is she so intelligent? Has she yet realised who it is that is suited to her?
I see her eyes, there is no warmth there. However there is also no fear.
Soon.
I return again. This time I ignore you completely, unworthy half breed. It incenses you to see I have forgotten your presence in favor of another. Are you jealous?
I heed not your pathetic insults upon my person. This time, I came only for her, and I intend that she knows.
She shows no fear as I approach. Her name purrs from my mouth as I stand before her, my lone hand reaching out for hers.
Will she take it?
Her eyes, questioning, search mine. I hear you approaching from behind, your attempt at stealth is truly futile. Your steps are loud in my ears and I turn to confront you. My eyes narrow in contempt.
Did you truly think you could sway me from my desire so easily?
I strike, unexpectedly. Your crimson robed form retreats from my powerful uppercut until you are laying quietly beneath a broken elm.
I turn again to her, and I am surprised to see no hint of concern for her once beloved protector.
Have you driven her to this, or has she finally come to realise the truth for herself?
Again I reach out. I allow the softness within my heart for her to show in my eyes. Only in my eyes.
It is enough. She extends her delicate arm and rests her small palm within my much larger hand.
"Will you follow?" I ask her impassively.
She does not speak, but I can see the acceptance in the hardening of her expression. She looks to where you are, sprawled hap-hazardly on the forrest floor. You are begining to rouse.
Her eyes return to my face. She nods once, and grips my large, clawed hand.
Will you miss her? Or perhaps her substitute is awaiting you even now. She will not return to you again.
She is MINE.
