"My Lord?" The guard asked again. Sesshomaru sighed.
"Ignore them." He ordered and motioned for the man to leave.
"But the Lady is attempting to skin the seeker alive. Surely you will not allow this to happen?" The guard continued. Sesshomaru growled and slammed his papers to the desk.

"Change me back you furry little beast!" Kagome demanded applying more pressure to what she assumed to be Mokomoko's neck.
"He dose not have a neck if your trying to snap it. Nor any other bones for that matter" Kagome glared at Sesshomaru as he entered the room.
"You" She growled eyes reddening. Sesshomaru felt the last of his patience snap.
"Yes me you foolish woman, now get up from there and release Mokomoko! The servants are beginning to question your sanity." Kagome held on several moments longer before releasing her prey.
"I don't know what you and that thing have done to me but you had better fix it right now!" She ordered poking Sesshomaru in the chest with her finger. Sesshomaru slapped her hand away.
"I do not have time for irrational females. You have been chosen as my mate. It is final and unchangeable. The sooner you except this as a fact, the easier it will be for you." Kagome opened her mouth to argue, but Sesshomaru continued to talk as if he had not noticed.
"There are things that you must learn in order to live as the Lady of the West and you need to learn the fast. Word of our match has spread quicker than I anticipated and the other Lords have decided to host the winter gala in our honor. If they sense so much as a hint of weakness in our bond they will attack and they will kill you. Killing you will weaken me considerably and I will not allow it. I understand that this situation if not to your liking, and I had originally planned to give you time to come to terms with your transformation and come to know me better, but that time has been cut short. The gala is in two months, you will begin your lesson immediately. This is not negotiable. You Will do as I say or I'll make you regret it" Silence rang threw out the room as Sesshomaru turned to leave.
"If it makes you feel any better we will not have to complete the mating until the day before we leave for the gala." He added without looking back. Kagome watched Sesshomaru's rapidly retreating form, her mouth hanging open. A raven haired woman walked into the room, stopping as she approached Kagome's frozen form.
" My Lady?" She questioned. Kagome mentally shook herself and met the strangers gaze.
"I am Lady Kira, Lord Sesshomaru's cousin. He was asked me to help you learn the ways of court." The woman said. Kagome stared, a puzzled look stealing over her face.
"Cousin?" She asked emerging from her daze, eying the woman’s long black hair.
"Yes. Our mothers were cousins, Sesshomaru and I are actually more like what humans would term second cousins. My father was not a silver Inu. He was one of the shadow race, a very rare breed of black InuYoukai and I favor him more than my mother." Kira smiled pulling at one of her black curls, hoping to ease Kagome's discomfort.
"He's not as bad as he seems once you get past the growling, glaring and death threats." She added. Kagome laughed. After an hour of idle chitchat, Kagome reluctantly allowed Kira to lead her from the room and down a series of long, twisting, hallways.

Kagome stepped back from the mountain of books, shooting a quick glance toward the polished oak wood doors.
"I have to read all of those?" She asked.
"Yes" Kira said adding two more books to the stack. "No all at once, but yes. Theses book coupled with the lessons that we begin tomorrow will help your learn everything the is to know about being a high ranking Lady and many other things you will need to know about day to day Youkai life." Kagome sighed as she ran her finger over the top of one of the dusty books.
"Is there really no way out of this mating?" She asked again for good measure.
"No, but some mates do decide to go there separate ways." Kira turned away from the book shelf and stepped toward Kagome, taking her hands.
"Give Sesshomaru a chance before you decide to leave him, it is not as easy as it sounds to be parted from your mate." Kagome nodded solemnly.
