Unexpected Guest

There was a knocking at the door that was loud enough to wake the dead. Lucky for Sesshomaru, he was already up. It was early in the morning and Sesshomaru was still curled around a warm, slumbering Kagome. She let out a little moan at the noise and her hands flailed for a moment before Sesshomaru pressed a kiss to her forehead.

“I’ll be back.” He whispered before moving from the bed and heading for the door. Sesshomaru wanted to hurry and turn whoever it was away so that he could return to her.

The knocking came back as he was heading down the hallway and he frowned at the persistence of the person, wishing that they would just take a hint and leave him be. Sesshomaru opened the door and instantly knew why the knock sounded so stubborn.

“Sesshomaru!” Large arms went around him and tightened as if they wanted to squeeze the life from his body. A second later he was released. “I haven’t seen you in so long! How are you? What are you up to? Is your future wife here? Can I meet her?” Question after question assaulted Sesshomaru until he had taken a step back and let the visitor into the house. He closed the door and narrowed his eyes on the person.

The man before him had long silver hair much like his own pulled back in a ponytail. He wore tight black jeans and a blue shirt that showed that he was almost as muscular as Sesshomaru.  He looked to be only a few years older than Sesshomaru, but the same gold eyes were filled with mischief.

“Father.” He said simply, a greeting in his own way. “You were not supposed to come for two weeks yet.”

“I just wanted to see my boy so much, I couldn’t wait.” The man started to wander towards the hallway but Sesshomaru blocked his path.

“Business brought you?” Sesshomaru asked blandly. His father’s face heated and he sputtered.

“Sesshomaru… er… well…”

“Who is it?”

Sesshomaru turned his head to see that Kagome was standing behind him in strange blue cotton pajamas that had little Dalmatians. He had never seen before so he figured it was new, probably purchased because her family was to arrive the next day and she couldn’t really walk around in his shirts like she usually did. She yawned at him sleepily and he thought she was wonderful.

“Is this the girl?” Sesshomaru was pushed out of the way and his father was suddenly in front of Kagome with her hand in his. “You are beautiful, almost too beautiful for my son.”

Kagome blinked at him blurrily before giving him a smile.

“Thank you Mr. Taisho.”

“No no, you are to be my daughter soon enough. Please, call me Toga.” He grinned at her charmingly before reaching a hand behind her ear. He took his hand away and showed her that he now held a cherry blossom. “You are a stunning flower my dear.”

Kagome took the little flower and twirled it in her hand, smiling at Toga.

“You are so sweet!”

Sesshomaru pushed his sire to the side and lifted Kagome into his arms. He glared back at his father.

“Mine.”
