Kagome wanted to press her face to the glass like a small child at a candy store but somehow she resisted. On the other side of the glass her destiny hung from a small bar among others of its kind. Kagome pried her eyes off of her ‘destiny’ and brought out her wallet to see if she had what she needed and found she had exactly enough. Sure, she wouldn’t be able to go out with her friends for a while, but that did not matter much to her. What she wanted wouldn’t be there forever, someone else was bound to snap it up before she did, but her friends could wait.

Kagome moved to the shop door and entered the shop. There was a tintinnabulation that was rather unexpected.  She looked up to see a bell over the door that she had not seen from the window. The bell was silver and shaped like a dragon with its mouth open, silver fire running from the mouth as the ringer. The door had brushed against the flame to make the noise.

“Can I help you?” A voice said from behind Kagome. She jumped and turned to see the most attractive man that she had ever laid eyes on standing behind a counter. Silver hair cascaded down his back like a waterfall, far longer than any hair Kagome had ever seen on a girl. His skin was smooth and pale but for magenta stripes along his cheeks. He wore all black, as if to balance out his light features. Golden eyes looked at her without emotion.

Realizing that she was staring, Kagome turned to the display window.

“I would like to buy those.” She said and pointed. The man moved from behind the counter and walked to the display window. He picked up the thing she wanted and held them up.

“These?” He asked. Kagome nodded and he walked back to the counter. He went to a cash register and started to type things. “That will be twenty five dollars.” He said finally. Kagome paused with her hand in her pocket.

“Wait, what? They were only twenty last week!” She said with a scowl. The man looked up and she could see curiosity in his eyes now.

“The price went up.” He said simply. “Do you still want them?”

Kagome felt like crying. It had taken forever to find the babysitting jobs to save up. She would only have to find one other job, but gigs were hard to find.

“Sure I want them but now I can’t have them.” Kagome sighed and turned for the door.

                “I’ll make you a deal.”

Kagome jerked back towards the man in surprise. He still looked emotionless but his tone was filled with amusement.

“If you work here this weekend I’ll give you these.” He said. Kagome’s eyes widened.

“I accept!” She said and a huge smile broke out. She quickly leaned across the counter and hugged the man. Just as quickly she was skipping to the door. “I’ll be back on Saturday!” She said before leaving.

Sesshomaru shook his head and looked down at what the girl had wanted so much.

“All that for silver boat earrings? What a strange girl.”
