Runaway Train by Anna

Cat's out of the bag

Technically this is story number two but.... I'm weird so expect some crazy ess from me!

Anna

She had given up. Her heart was broken, her soul, the small fragment she now carried seemingly shattered. She didn't know what else she could do. She sat on a fallen log and contemplated her life so far. She was weak, alone, dead and practically soulless.  Her life was worth nothing now.

Kikyou looked around and saw the endless forest. She knew her former love was there, with the other girl. And this time it wasn't her reincarnation. No, this time it was someone neither of them saw coming. The undead priestess was startled when Kagome, the girl she had once tried so hard to kill came and sat out alone in the woods with her.

"He is only able to see what he wants to." The younger girl murmured. "He will only ever see us when she is no longer there with him. And even then we are in the background. To him we are nothing but being to be used. I gave up on that fool a long time ago, and so should you. Even though I travel with him, he is no longer worth it, no longer worth either our time or trouble."

"I really don't know if any of this is worth it anymore...." Kikyou sighed dismally. "I... I really need to think. Please Kagome, make sure he is unable to find me? Sometimes it is as if he has the ability to seek me out without having any idea or bearing on where I actually may be located. It is... as if we are tied together, as if something binds us."

The dark haired woman chuckled and looked at her older counterpart with a sad smile. "You are tied to one another." She stated baldly. "When Urasuea pulled out that small part of my soul for you, she had to use something familiar to your former self as a base with which to anchor the soul fragment within your new clay body. Since he was there, she used the memory of Naraku-as-Inuyasha's betrayal to lock you int the anger you seem to be unable to escape. And since he was there, it only cemented this horror and trauma into your new mind. You were fractured even as you were born again Kikyou. I don't know if you can ever escape each other. It may be you are tied for either your lifespan or his."

The elder woman stared, both understanding and shock in her eyes. "I.... I must go. I will find you again." The now haunted woman stood and left without a word. The ageless woman, forever changed, fled from her younger, wiser counterpart.. As she disappeared into the woods, Kagome looked up and sighed.

"Hurry up with your whore Inuyasha, I'd like to leave tonight without your disgusting sounds impinging upon my poor brain." With that almost silent declaration and a disgusted scowl upon her pretty face, Kagome got up off of the ground and walked back towards her camp in silence.

"Where were you wench!?" Snarled out a cruel voice.  "It's not like you've got anyone to visit out here so where the hell were you?" Inuyasha, his silver hair tangled and matted leaped from his tree to stand in front of her.

"Nowhere, I went for a walk around the woods."  Her crystal blue eyes looked into his muddy gold ones and she suppressed a sigh.  "I can protect myself just fine now and it's not like you won't notice anything in the forest. I mean, you have a much better sense of hearing and smell than the rest of us do. That's why we rely on you so much."

Kagome brutally held back the sarcasm that wanted to leech into her voice as she was stared at by the rest of their companions.

"You're right wench, you all do rely on me.  So get to sleep you're gonna need it."  He smiled a sick, slightly twisted smile and turned to leap into his tree as the other five creatures turned away from him.  Keeping a gleaming eye on everyone as the camp settled into sleep, he never noticed as the sounds of the forest around them began to fall silent.  He was totally by surprise, just like everyone else when all hell broke loose.

Sorry it's so short my lovelies but I must be off to my dreamland. I shall see you on the morrow of the next if I can arrange the time. Much love to you all!
