Reassurance

     Kagome had been a trooper up until this point. When the doctor had first told them that she was sick, she was livid. Sesshomaru had tried to calm her down as she yelled at the poor man, telling him that it was sick and twisted to lie to people. His Kagome, seriously ill...he still couldn't fathom it. He'd always worried about her when she had a cold or a sinus infection, and now, here was the time that all of the worrying hit him and didn't leave. Here, now, was when she could possibly never come back to him. She might never smile or laugh at him again.

      After that first time when they first found out the news, Kagome seemed to accept it. She wasn't angry nor was she depressed. She'd told him that this was her fate, since the day she'd begun fighting through life she knew that it would never end. She said that she'd always be fighting in some way. He'd never seen Kagome so strong, she sat through every check up, body scan, and meeting, and she took everything in stride.

     Sesshomaru was brought out of his thoughts when the nurse came in to tell them that it was time. Sesshomaru watched as Kagome was prepped for her surgery and told that she had five minutes to talk to her husband before it was time to head to the ER. He looked at Kagome and for a moment, he was confused. She was looking at her lap, not at him. "Kago-"

     "No." She said softly, cutting him off. "Sess...I'm scared. I've never been so scared in my life. Just tell me that everything will be okay, please. Tell me that I'll make it through this, that we'll make it through this."

     Not once in his time with Kagome had he ever seen her cry. So when he watched the first tiny droplet fall into her lap he was momentarily stunned. "Kagome, it will be fine. We've made it this far, so there's no way that we're going to give up now. Remember when you told me that you were fated to fight? Keep fighting, if you cant find anymore reasons, than think of me. You have me Kagome, so keep fighting, because I need you here. Dry your tears dear one, we WILL make it through this, and I promise you that I will never leave you, I will always be here to fight with you."

Sesshomaru crossed the room and wrapped his arms around Kagome and whispered fiercely once more, "Fight for me."
