His Happiness

After the final battle no one knew what happened, Kagome had been standing there, smiling at them all, sure a little beaten and bruised but no more worse for wear then the rest of them. She seemed to glow with power, radiate it, none could dispute that the girl had come far, nay, she was a woman now.

Outside of that she held the pearl, the damned cursed thing, her brows furrowed in wonder thinking just what the wish should be. Her eyes opened to see the red clad hanyou, her first love, exotic, and wild, brash, and sometimes idiotic, but completely lovable. She had promised him a wish long ago, the young and silly thing she was.

But a promise was a promise, and so while she would not, in her more wiser years, hand the cursed marble to him, she would wish for his happiness, so long as it was within the kami’s will to allow it. It was the best wording she could have thought of and so, eyes shut, she had made her wish, not letting any know just what she had done. It was only a flash of light that let them know the deed had been done.

The outcome was not what the miko would have thought or hoped for. The cursed marble was just that, there was no such thing as an impure wish, and so she had been damned along with it, but then again, a curse can always be a blessing.

She hadn’t known what would make the hanyou happy though, or that the kami would allow such a thing, to feel your soul ripped from you once again was, without a doubt probably the worst thing Kagome had felt. She didn’t remember much after that, but in space and time, things she seemed to be immune to she was changing.

A blessing, and a curse, all in one. For the well would be closed now, to see her family as she so deserved she would need a much longer life then a human with a heart so pure could have. Stripped of her mortal battery, she was remolded, reshaped, perfected into a being that could in fact last the test of time, if only she could last with the repercussions of her wish.

The hanyou’s heart, was sadly torn between to wants, one the human half to have the love he had lost some fifty years before, the other demonic in nature wishing to be stronger, loathing the wench that had pinned them to the tree, the one that had wanted him gone. Ultimately, both wanting family, pack, a father, time together, things they had never been afforded with the life they had led.

His always torn heart, tested, tried, and true, twisted what happiness there cold have been in the wish. Ripped from his near immortal shell was his demonic soul, placed into the miko that had spun the wish itself, left only the mortal cooling flesh that had been human. Born from the energy in the wish itself clay mortar, old worn, damned, was marred flesh a soul stolen from its reincarnated self used to power its being. Her karma would be her own, but that was a story for another time.

When all was said and done, the miko who had spun the wish had vanished, while all that was left was the chaos she had created. The now mortal human son of the hime, Iazyoi, no longer the flesh and blood of his sire.

The things that happen when you wish upon, something as unbalanced as a star… In her own hell of her own making, an inu, great, terrible and dangerous was reborn into the world, his lady wife, human as she might been remade flesh and blood as well, all captured until this new creature, miko, onna, human made youkai was able to live with her choises.

It would take time, and much training, but when she was ready only a few short months later, able to walk, run, hunt, and fiend for herself as any true youkai could be, they found peace, they found an exit, they found they were wedding crashers.

The look on the human couple’s face was mirrored on the face of the young once miko. There before her stood a human Inuyasha and his flesh and blood human wife to be, Kikyo. Hot and burning the ache in the once miko’s chest bloomed, a low, subsonic rumble quaked the earth, and vibrated the souls of all that stood before her.

Her mane of onyx tresses flew in winds of her own making, her heart breaking in her eyes, all were captivated by her dark blue doe eyed self, her emotions on her sleeve her heart breaking, the wish was for his happiness, and she didn’t not make him happy. Her eyes cast low, holding the once bauble that had started it all. It floated on unseen winds, wasted in her opinion.

Love was not for her it seemed. As shock and awe at the sight of them all came and went, The wedding parties came forward, and Kagome found herself stepping back. This was not her world not any longer, part of her curse or blessing depending on how she chose to look at it was that these people, once her close family, her friends, her confidants, they were mortal shells, while she was not.

They would age and whither much, much faster then she, they had thought she was dead before, there was no need to change their minds, on fleeting soft soundless trained feet she fled, away from it all, away from all she knew. She got far, for fast was she, but she had been to careless, too wrapped up in the moment. She had not noticed the only set of golden solar lamped lit eyes watching her as if she were a goddess among them.

Sesshomaru was canine in all ways possible, the shell of false mortal he usually walked in was nothing but an illusion, he was inu, at it’s perfection. The chase called to his blood, the beauty to his soul, he knew her not, but he chased her down, and found himself catching her quickly. Kagome gasped in his embrace, her eyes lined with luscious lashes, unknowing the fate that had befallen her, golden solar lamp lit eyes greeted her.
